Branded is right. The government is there to protect citizens from danger, war or other. The fact that a car maker made faulty products that were killing people and hid the fault, and then tried to cover it up and not come clean is exactly why the government is there. To investigate these things.
I don't care who released the memo, I care that someone in TOYOTA WROTE IT IN THE FIRST PLACE.

time to do some serious apologizing, ala Tiger. Tear up a bit, do some community work etc. You can be forgiven by the American public if you can swallow your pride.
I do not think the inferiority-complexed Japanese people are capable of doing that though.

Exactly. All companies have recalls, thsi particular company tried to operate like they are in Japan by not being forthwright to the public. Can't do that in the US bud... This is what happens.
Had Toyota treated the American cosumers as equals and came out and admited problems with no covering up, this would have been non-news and woudl have blown away by now.

It is not about science. Japan likes to eat whale meat. So what?

one silver and two bronze for a 125 million person nation? Sheeesh. Not exactly athletically inclined, to say the least. Now you see why a bronze medal to Japan is a one week headline show on TV.
Better than the lone gold from years ago I suppose. Little people, little hopes.

Actually Japan just likes to eat whale. So what? If you legally get it banned they will stop. If your agenda is the majority, you should be able to ban it.
Until you do, please stop making yourself look silly.

These cockroaches need to be exterminated. Any people or nations who fight wars for religion are misguided, dangerous to "normal" people and should be killed.

I am getting a little tired of watchign Japanese athletes cry on my tv.
I am with Metaphile and ratpack, J media is horrible and yes, Japanese of any field get reality checks when they go to an international stage.
In the world, Japan is like the smart dorky kid. You only want to be his friend because he has rich parents who buy him cool toys and you want to play with them once in a while. So you are nice to him for a day...

ratpack is right, although crimes against children are not exclusive to Japan, it seems like this country does have a problem preventing murders of children by their parents and careless supervision of kids playing in water (or strange dogs?!).
The crimes here seem very cowardice, like leaving bodies for someone to find, abuse by the father as the mother watches and other...

you would think with the aging population problem = pension shrinking problem that Japan would want to protect every child in the country.
How? Start with real penalties for crimes to yuor own children instead of this "as long as you keep it in the family" attitude.
The person who let these kids die and left them for waste like frozen gyoza is an animal.

yeah holed up in a cave like a cockroach. Great life. BTW if these people had anything to live for (money, family) they would not be terrorists, they would be businessmen.

herefornow - read my post and don't assume. I am only saying I don't think it was cheating, but an amateurish mistake by the crew.
The athlete was properly DQ'd. I was only refering to if Japan had malicious intentions or not, and I don't think they did. They should be DQ'd and they were.

Japan is not a sled country, neither is the US or Australia or France. These things happen. I don't think it was cheating. Even if they cheat, they could not beat the Germans or other sled countries.
You would never hear this happening on a German or Austrian team, it is likely just an amateurish mishap by the crew.
