Lamen is the Chinese pronunciation for ramen, which originated in China.

Nanking is the Japanese name for Nanjing during its occupation. As was Peking for Beijing.
not true. Nanking and Peking are spellings according to the Wade-Giles romanization system.
Nanjing and Beijing are spellings for the Hanyu Pinyin system.

You'd have to go back over a 1000 years ago when China and Japan were on friendly terms. Japanese students made 14 missions to China's Tang Dynasty court to study. The emperors of China also sent valuable gifts to the Japanese which are still in Nara and Kyoto

@knowbetter: If she prefers maintaining her Chinese name and identity, more power to her. It didn't hurt Chow Yunfat. Nor are Hollywood stars required to adopt Chinese names as they flood into the China and Asian markets.

@knowbetter: you really don't know any better about Fan Bingbing's name. The surname Fan (pronounced faahn) could mean model, example, or pattern. Bingbing is the equivalent of Coco, Mimi or Lulu.
