Wouldn't it be simple to control acceleration with a lever on the steering wheel, so the only things for your feet would be lights, clutch, brake? I agree that all new cars should be required to have automatic braking.

I think if we survive , we will continue to have problems like this as long as there are politicians doing the bidding of billionaires who are never rich enough. This is what is wrong with a world controlled by the greedy 1% who need the 99% to create their wealth. In America it is reported that there are 14,000 deaths due to radiation from Japan.

There was a Japanese man who recently died, who was in both bombed cities in ww 2. When he told of his experience, many did not believe him. In America, medical scientists are reporting fourteen thousand more deaths than usual, in older folks and infants, related to nuclear fallout from Fukushima event. No big news outlets reporting this here.....NEVER put faith in Govt. or business reporting. There is a much higher than normal incidence of cancer death in young people living around nuclear power plants. You're not likely to hear that reported on t.v. news, either.

If all cars, trucks, etc. , had automatic braking, things like this would never happen again. The technology is here. Make it a part of every vehicle.

At least the death and destruction parts of life are still working just fine. Health and happiness is another story.

Headlines,as usual, will be dominated by statements by our most brilliant scientists and inventors about developments that would make our lives heaven on earth.

TONYus is so right-on.There is also an energy storing transmission called the hydristor. This moves your vehicle from a stop without stepping on the gas. This would almost double the mileage on any vehicle. What about the compressed air car? What about cooking down human shit, and running vehicles on the methane gas produced? What about using same to run generators for electricity producing plants? This very thing is now being done on animal farms around the world, without too much mention on the tv news, and no interest by our politicians. Poop run cars, trucks, would be very low polluting, but the auto companies or the politicians, are not interested in it, or in informing the public. The only answer is for the public to refuse to buy vehicles that don't operate this way.

The police at least have a suspect, since the mother said she killed the boy. Listen kids, if mother is stressed and dad has gone fishing, get out of the house fast.

The lesson here is, do not jump onto a moving truck driven by an angry boyfriend. Otherwise, it may be o.k.

I'm sorry to hear about this, but it's a perfect example of "no accidents".Everything happens in just the way the conditions that exist determine that IT MUST HAPPEN. Take ANY EVENT and go backwards mini-step,by mini-step,and you will see it is true. Everything that happens on earth is a PLANNED EVENT. IT just wasn't planned by any human being.Remember "CAUSE AND EFFECT"? An "accident" would be an effect without a CAUSE. Every event follows the laws that dictate that event. We are living totally "programmed" lives. Just not programmed by us. I sincerely hope we're living out perfect justice.

One of the greatest horrors that exists is human life. When you realize that this scenario of illness and care-giving to the ill by the love of their life is a common story that will probably happen to MOST OF US, it's proof that you should carefully consider bringing a soul into this world. We think of ourselves as a pair, when reality shows we are individual souls following our individual life programs. We surely need the care of a loving GOD.
