I predict the US will be disappointed in his inability to cram the Henoko deal down the Okinawans throats.

His problem will be in Okinawa, they won't accept the Henoko deal which will destroy the coral reef in the area.

I hope it doesn't catch on for about 10 yrs, I just bought a HD widescreen and don't want it "outdated" too quickly.

His legacy is to show where Japan stands in the partenership with America. Unequal and not worthy of talking to. He brought this to light to even the most probase, proalliance, proamerican Japanese. Whenever Okinawa is in the news, even not related to crime by US service members all Japanese will have a flash memory of America as their overseers.

sicilian; Again, Gulf of Tonken and WMD in Iraq. (not really facts either) and as far as the Kita Chosen sinking Kankoku's ship, that isn't necessarily facts either. Noone knows the facts on any of these things but they are using this "incident" as an excuse to try to pressure China into putting sanctions on North Korea? What sanctions? Food aid? That would only make the poor powerless people starve even more. The military and politicians will always get their food and caviar.

Kim Jong won't be around in 10 yrs, maybe just 5. Why fight a war for 5 years killing half the Korean peninsula when we can just wait the same amount of time and get the same result with noone dead.

Why do they want him to resign? Because he couldn't stand up to America?
Posted in: Calls for Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama to resign are mounting among lawmakers in his own Democratic Party of Japan as well as opposition parties. Should he resign and if so, who do you think would do a good job as prime minister?

ossanAmerica... hmm, Gulf of Tonken, WMD in Iraq... all lies. Funny how the US military isn't on red alert in Korea and Okinawa. I'd say it's all bs. Where's the proof? Just some "team" of international experts saying something and any other theory is blocked from the media. What is international experts? South Korean military and US military experts? That would qualify as a team of international experts.
Seiharinokaze.. I agree, deterrence against war mongers. I'll remember that phrase. I wonder if Hillary would be so anxious to start a conflict if it was her daughter on the front lines..

But did they do it, or are they using this "accident" as a way for PM Hatoyama to save face and have an "excuse" to cave in on the base issue.

I think it really makes Hatoyama look bad to fire someone for not changing their convictions, just because he changed them himself after getting strongarmed by the US. He looks like a coward and baby.

Hatoyama backed down under pressure of the US, but Fukushima didn't, so instead of assert himself to the US, he fired her for not buckling also.

Asia and Europe have been though a lot of war in the last 70 yrs, they don't have the appetite for it the way the US does.. probably because noone alive remembers it happening on our soil. Hillary should just shut her mouth and go home, noone really respects her in Asia anyway, figuring she got her position because of her husband. You don't send women over to tell asian men what to do..

mist..
You have a point... also, tough sanctions mean the innocent poor in N Korea will be the ones without food, the ones in power will always dine like kings and the military will always have food in their dining facilities.

Right now 46 are dead. A war means 46000+ dead. Hillary can't even shoot a gun, what business is it for her to push S Korea into a war with their brothers. For all we know, this whole thing is a setup. Hillary seems to be the only one pushing for actions that might lead to war.

China said years ago that any war between N and S Korea would cause China to invade N Korea... to keep the border where it is at, otherwise the US would put it's bases on the northern border with China and China would have millions of refugees in their country begging for food.
