Answer: Tourists cannot determine whether the air, water and food are safe to consume. People around the world know that the Japanese govt. hasn't forthright and candid with it's citizens and residents concerning the nuclear disaster and instead chosen to downplay the severity and scale. Personally, I do not want to travel to Tokyo this summer because of the plan to scale back the use of air conditioners. I'm of a normal, healthy height/weight and I usually sweat like a pig in Japan because of the stingy use of air conditioning. I can only imagine how bad it will be for people using trains, offices and frequently stores in Tokyo this summer. No thank you!

What did they expect? The Wii doesn't even offer HDMI graphics gaming. Not very smart when many gamers have 40', 50' and even 60' HD flat panel televisions.

himehentai: I have no problem with losing power for a few hours. Like I posted above, it is the least we can do to contribute. However, it is still not fair for people to go without power for 6 hours or longer when Tokyo is completely exempt and sacrifice nothing.

In typical fashion, the plan developed by the Japanese govt. for handling the power suspensions was poorly devised, not well thought out and poorly presented to the general public. Why should some residential areas go 6 hours or more a day without electricity? It is too extreme.

I think Kan is simply trying to lift spirits and morale and rally the people to respond to the crisis by volunteering and sacrificing for others in need. However, that being said there are very real and serious political consequences for both the DPJ and the LDP in how this crisis is handled and how it is presented by the national media. Make no mistake about it, political wrangling is very much at work and will become more obvious as more time passes.

Kawasaki-shi: 1:50-7:00pm
Seems a bit unreasonable for Kawasaki-shi to be included in two separate groups. However, it is the least we can do to contribute in some way. I'm hoping the govt. can remedy the crisis at the nuclear reactors. If that happens I hope to head to the northeast to volunteer.

I think you have the US confused with China. The US doesn't "take the resources", US companies pay a fair price for the resources and also build hospitals, schools and other infrastructure and provide various aid. China on the hand cuts deals with corrupt warlords in Africa, runs over people in the streets with their trucks, builds nothing for the people and provides no aid.

The place is ridiculously overpriced and there are nicer hotels in Tokyo. Tourists should pass on the offer.

proudnippon: My clients would disagree with you. Sure, one can dream up many reasons for why the lady's blood was found in the cameraman's car and for why he attempted to commit suicide around the same time. But really, let's apply a dose of logic and commonsense to the facts. If you do that, what is the overwhelming conclusion that you reach? No, I'm afraid the cameraman killed the lady and is lying about it. Plain and simple.

Could it be more obvious that the cameraman killed her? I suppose the lady's blood was planted in the cameraman's car by either the tooth fairy or the OJ Simpson murder investigators?

The following measures should be taken immediately:
Cancel sumo tournaments for 1 year to clean house;
Remove all of the major players in the sumo association;
Adopt an independent board and very strict oversight policies;
Pursue a very aggressive marketing campaign prior to resuming the next tournament and provide fans with unprecedented access and interaction with the wrestlers.

Well yeah, hello??? HDMI provides digital video and sound output through the TV which is pretty high on my list. Unfortunately, Wii still uses analog video and sound through the red, white and yellow cables...

Had the victim been an attractive 18 year old Japanse woman killed by a foreigner, the govt. and right-wing nuts would never allow the book to be published or sold in Japan. It would never happen. However, in this case the book is published literally overnight.
