I don't understand, for the assistant director of a public hospital would make enough money to buy a call girl, or go to a hostess club? The ages are strange for a guy 40 yrs old?

Japan has a constitution, w/ Article 9. The SDF is valid as long as it is for the defense of Japanese interests. An alliance can take many forms, and this US/Japan alliance is one of US stationing bases in Japan, and Japan will give support, but not an active participant in US military actions - the same alliance as during the Cold War.

In many ways, it is better to have a translator for the Japanese PM. Japanese culture is different, and English would be a second language. Japan became the 2nd largest economy in the world by more action, rather than talk. Also, if the PM is not absolutely fluent in English, any error in word usage takes on a life of its own. The world class translator, when in doubt, will err on the side of caution, and generally make both parties look good. I'm a fluent speaker of English, but would prefer a translator in all situations if the situation is important - not very practical. In the US, the person would be a "spokesperson".

I do not believe the US can significantly change the military developments paradigm it has pursued for several decades (re: former Pres. Eisenhower's Farewell Speech - the US has done what he warned about). Nor do I think the PRC would be pursuing the path the US has gone - history is replete of failures. Only certain types of powers pursue massive military growth.

Robot technology is still in its infancy, but Japanese industry has made great strides. Only a couple generations in R&D before robots that can be effective in helping in major disasters to compliment search dogs. A lot of uses are on the horizon.

I know this is very strange to read, but the US has so many ways of eliminating targets, they could just give a life sentence, then covertly eliminate the person. This overt method is not needed anymore w/ the technology now used after the Cold War. Oops, this may still be a secret?

The Times have digital images of the call girls? Just out of curiosity, could JT get the photos and the estimated prices for the incident? I have no idea, and inflation is around.

One third page down is an important aspect to these international conferences. It is a concern of mine:
http://www.ncoic.com/nsapoole.htm
Insight Magazine reported in a series of articles in 1997 that President Clinton ordered the NSA and FBI to mount a massive surveillance operation at the 1993 Asian/Pacific Economic Conference (APEC) hosted in Seattle. One intelligence source for the story related that over 300 hotel rooms had been bugged for the event, which was designed to obtain information regarding oil and hydro-electric deals pending in Vietnam that were passed on to high level Democratic Party contributors competing for the contracts.<59> But foreign companies were not the only losers: when Vietnam expressed interest in purchasing two used 737 freighter aircraft from an American businessman, the deal was scuttled after Commerce Secretary Ron Brown arranged favorable financing for two new 737s from Boeing.<60

Another interesting question is how the info was acquired? Were hotel phones and rooms bugged? This is not something a delegate would tell anyone?

Just out of curiosity....
You are delegate for your country to the IWC, and your country doesn't care which way you vote. In the evening, a pretty girl comes to your hotel room and offers you an envelop full of cash. Then, proceeds to take her clothes off. No one knows but you, and you are lonely.
