ASEAN may not be powerful, but I think there are some people who respect their accomplishments: ASEAN Regional Forum(ARF), East Asia Summit (EAS), AsiaPacificEconomicCooperation (APEC), United Nations (UN)(not all participants). ASEAN has a distinguished past to those associated w/ them.

I am surprised no one spells out what is actually happening at the macro level. This is not complicated, but oil usage is not clear.

All great powers in the past has gone thru this to varying degrees, and it seems the US is no exception.
