    To Fadamor,

I got a crapload of info on this. Don't forget that when former Pres. GWBush spoke to former PM Koizumi, he stated the US/Japan situation as like the movie, "High Noon", w/ Gary Cooper. If you are familiar w/ that movie, the former Pres. was primarily focusing on the situation in the Asia Pacific, but that is debatable.

    To Fadamor,

"The rest of the 1990's were spent working on our economy and we actually had a Federal surplus instead of a deficit in the last year of Clinton's Administration."

The actual "price" for that surplus cost the US beyond imaginary monetary values. The Clinton Administration gave me the impression that it comprised of those who were engaged in "on the job training". There is a reason why Sec Clinton avoids coming to the Asia Pacific, but that is something best for her to reveal. Your description would be best for public consumption, but is not applicable in implementing US Foreign Policy.

    To CruzControl,

Here is one tidbit that very few people know. Because of the way things turned out, the US inadvertently saved the Russian Federation from economic disintegration. This happened by sheer accident.

    Correction:

    "...the fireworks were incredible."

There were several KEY people who determined the final conclusion, and I was one of them.

    To CruzControl,

"The 90's were great for the US with no wars."

I had front row seats, and the fireworks was incredible. If you do not know what was going on in the 1990's, you don't know what is going on in the Asia Pacific. Not a military battle, but a battle of epic proportions. A lot of people in APEC were ticked off.

The US practices, "military Keynesianism". The reason it can be practiced is that the vast majority of Americans do not understand it or do not care to look into its practices. Constant wars are all accidental.

The end results are starting to appear, soooo read, "former Pres. Eisenhower's Farewell Speech".

"A missile of any speed can only hit what it can “see” so the way to go is to “hide” the carriers and I am sure that if electronics can be used to create multiple radar images from fighter aircraft they can be used to do the same for carriers."

Yes, that line of questioning will lead to sensitive facts about task forces. If you know the answers, Mushroomcloud's posts does confirm those facts through reverse logic. More is involved than multiple radar signals.

    To Semperfi,

I don't want to sound sooooooo idealistic, but to some degree, APEC would not be what it is except for strong relationships. However, many in the US during the 1990's saw this as "cronyism". The lowest product price is not everything.

That photo is like the scene from the movie, "You Live Only Twice". Aside from dated societal norms, good picture.

    To UnagiDon,

I stand corrected - usually try to use formal titles to countries, officials. Also, probably do the same w/ the PRC Army - it does get involved using all formal designations.

    You know, don't you?

I don't know if people have read numerous sources on this, but a high ranking PRC Admiral recently stated that IF a naval confrontation materialized w/ the US, the PRC Navy would be HIGHLY motivated to stop a carrier task force like the USS Washington - they don't know if they can, so they are implying that they will "unload" everything on that task force if push comes to shove. There is very serious discussions on the net on this.

Well, actually, the US seeks a "proxy" in order to avoid a direct confrontation w/ the PRC. In modern warfare, no single item will be used in naval confrontations on either side - waves of differing missiles combined w/ shock waves. Those in the know will know what I am alluding to.

    To Mareo2,

Are you in the SDF? If you are, please look into the development towards the end of the Cold War. Both were moving into "signals intelligence" in R&D. Speed is secondary to targeting - example would be the Sunburn. I'm talking first tier equipment, and nothing exemplifies my analysis more than the F22. F15s can't even target the F22 - signal jamming. This is prime territory for the SDF to delve into in R&D.

Many are praying for "peace and prosperity" for the New Year. Others are praying for their own particular situations (possibly).

Well, possibly at present, but "no" in 10years. If Japan's food self sufficiency was 60-70%, it may be attractive, but locking Japan into a trade agreement that will pressure the agricultural sector is not good. W/ climate change influencing greater volatility in growing seasons, Japan needs much greater control in increasing food self sufficiency. Extreme caution is advised, and to wait to see how other's fare in the TPP is better. Well acquainted w/ the Mexico/Japan trade agreement, and that was very clearly contentious over agriculture. Japan may wish to "wait and see" on this issue now, and to selectively pick and choose those agreements that is well suited for the agricultural situation. No matter what Japan decides on this, the agricultural sector must be much, much more stronger in 10 years.

When piano play is described in that way, “trifling audiences with her extravagant performances,”, a more clearer description would be, "scintillating audiences with her extravagant performances,”. Just an opinion.
