the film covers some serious social issues.”

the more the collective Japanese psyche can pretend that using about half a pipe hit of crack is a "serious social issue" the more they can keep their collective heads buried in the sand and ignore REAL serious social issues that they are too fearful to face, both as a society, and individually.

I have no data but I wud guess around 20-30% wud fall into those categories. Anyone think higher or lower?

I would guess the overwhelmingly vast majority of the inhabitants of earth are unplanned.

there is a reason women get more hornier around that time of the month, and men are always good to go. Mother nature ain't no fool. (for much more info, read The Red Queen, by Ridley)

    I am glad I wasn't an abortion.

Abortions from Roe v Wade were likely responsible for a drastic drop in crime rates 15-30 years later (ref freakonomics)

The whole "it's a woman's body" argument doesn't hold water.

killing a pregnant woman is double murder, even if she is on the way to the abortion clinic.

do those of you who think "it's a woman's body" think ALL drugs should be legal? After all, it's MY body, who are you to tell me what to do with it? What about euthinasea are you "it's a woman's body" crowd in favor of that as well?

complicated issue. How to avoid it? Always wear a condom. Case closed.

...her engagement to a sumo wrestler...

    and

a scene of a mother walrus holding her baby, .. very emotional.

it all makes sense now. I wonder if she knows that 10 percent of male walruses are responsible for 90 percent of the kids?

Who would have taken care of this woman had she been seriously injured by this kid? She could have busted her knees or her back.

Would the kids parents have happily footed her hospital bill? The School? Or would she had been left out in the cold?

While she did a noble thing, had the kid been falling feet first, he likely wouldn't have gotten more than a busted leg. As it stands now, he learned a valuable lesson --> mess around and somebody else takes care of you.

The boy remains in a stable condition, police said.

well at least this horrible headline doesn't lead to an even more horrible outcome.

Hope the kid turns out ok with the trauma this will inevitably bring.

As far as the loon toon women's exucse, if dying together with the boy was her only intention, I doubt she have gone the way of the knife.

Pillow, carbon monoxide. The amateur shrink in my suspects she misdirected the anger for her husband at her kid, then horrified at what she'd done (or what would happen if she got in trouble) she unsuccessfully tried to slit her own wrists.

    hang her.

Sad that lives of so many hang in the balance of all this political posturing, everybody trying to maximize their own personal benefit if it goes well, and minimize their involvement if it doesn't.

    quote from the movie Troy:

"War is old men talking, and young men dying."

Best defense is a good offense. always look both ways before crossing the street, and NEVER expect the driver to stop EVEN IF the light is red. I was taught to always make sure the car is at least slowing down before walking into the intersection.

Good things the kids weren't killed. Maybe they should put up bigger signs, or special red lights that flash when school is getting out or something.

I know that in the states if you run a stop sign, or a red light during school getting hours the fine is especially tough.

Usually on TV the first thing they'd do in a case like this is check missing persons. sounds logical, do they have such a list in Japan?

Is there any stats on J-cops solve rates strictly through police work, rather than the criminals simply turning themselves in?

Stupid Cops. They obviously don't care one whit if people are killed or not, only that they have the proper paper trail to prove it wasn't their fault.

Hope she pulls through and somehow overcomes this traumatic experience.

    Too many J nutters.

They also wrote that they kept asking themselves what they could do

Not to sound harsh mom and dad, but isn't this the girl that worked as a hostess at a club whose website proclaimed she "like to be aggressively pursued?"

Well, to all the moms and dads out there whose daughters are still young and impressionable, try to dissuade them somehow from working in such joints. And allowing such things to be publicly said about them.

That being said, this was a horrible way to go, and I sincerely hope that she didn't suffer and is in a better place. And it goes without saying that I hope they catch the scum and hang his axx.

Being next to a fat guy on a train ain't so bad. Unless he tries to steal my ice cream. Then I'd get mad.
