I bet if they took adult learners of a new language, and put them in an environment that was identical to a toddler, they'd pick up a new language fairly quickly.
No worries, except playing. Can grab mommies boob whenever you feel like it, get massive approval when you get something right. you are expected to run around and make a mess...

Whatever happens to this kid, he will likely be responsible for many more crimes. Perhaps if they actually did some serious psychological work on him, he might be, ahem, rehabilitated. But this is Japan, and the only psychological counseling he'll get is some flunky in white coat getting him to admit that what he did was wrong.
No university, no decent job, this dude is set for life to live in the underclass of Japan that has been ignored for too long, and is starting to wake up and will likely never sleep again.

Poor kid. Horrible way to go. Most people die in cases like this because they suddenly panic, start swimming frantically, and quickly tire, going under. Similar to getting caught in a rip current at the beach.
Best thing to do is just relax, try and float, and hope somebody comes for you. Poor kid.

so it appears they did complain to the cops after all. good on them. and good on the cops for following through and shutting the place down. Perhaps they used the health code violations as an excuse. It must suck to get scammed on holiday with your girlfriend, especially if it's your first time in a foreign country. could easily ruin one's image of the place.
On a side note, I recall hearing that in Thailand they haggle prices with everybody EXCEPT Japanese. I have this on good, local Thai authority. Are Japanese considered easy marks the world over?

also note that the article indicates the restaurant was shot down for other complaints, namely health code violations. It also says nothing about the Japanese couple complaining to anybody other than the manager. Interesting how the headline is trying to make it appear as though their one bill was the cause of the place shutting down.
