Please watch -- A recent documentary of grandmothers in Korea, Philippians, China, and Australia who were comfort women sharing their stories. Truly compelling.

A majority of the comments left on this board by the CRAZIES can be summed up as such-
The practice of comfort women or sexual slavery is justified because the Korean women in Japan and US are prostitutes
The CRAZIES are a disgrace to Japan -- SHAME ON YOU!!

After reading some of the comments left on this board, I can understand why the Koreans are so pissed at the Japanese.

I have to disagree. US, China, and South Korea are major players in the International Community. Moreover, Hashimoto's comments regarding comfort women has received international coverage and including CNN.

Nor was Japan held accountable for the institutionalized rape of 200,000 women by the Japanese Imperial Army.

Hashimoto and the extreme right wing will lead Japan into international isolation.

I don't think people supporting Hashimoto's comments don't get it:
HASHIMOTO IS TRYING JUSTIFYING SEXUAL ASSAULTS. AN THE FACT REMAINS, ANY SEXUAL ASSAULTS WHETHER COMMITTED BY US GI'S OR JAPANESE SOLDIERS IS NEVER ACCEPTABLE.

Hashi needs to shut his mouth and stay out of the public's eye until this matter dies down. He is only prolonging this situation.

I agree, Abe gov't needs to stop politicizing their visits to Yasukuni Shrine or imply that that they'll revisit apologies made for Japan's past.

All this Nationalistic chest thumping by the right-wing Japanese politicians are only hurting Japanese firms' profit margins and more importantly Japanese global soft power.

Japanese universities need to actively encourage and recruit bright minds from overseas to enroll in J universities. Go to any top US university graduate school - They are filled with non American students.

The assumptions made in Mr. Sharp's piece is at best weak.
The article would be better served if a case study was presented (ie comparing management styles of Ford vs Toyota) instead making grandiose generalizations about the organisational structures of Westerns companies.

I agree, it's time to close the US bases in Japan and bring our American GI's home to their families.
Regarding the comfort women issue - Japan must stop being so defensive about the comfort women issue and try to make amends.
In the US - Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese American lawmakers are spearheading efforts in New York, New Jersey, Texas, and California to set up memorials for comfort women. Japan is doing a disservice to herself by not acknowledging the gravity and significance of this issue - Japan is just PISSING people off!

@paulinusa worte
The rivalry between North Eastern Asian countries have been on going for at least five centuries.
The histories of Japan, China, and Korea are too entrenched for modern thought to apply.
As long the rivalry doesn't turn violent -- IT'S ALL GOOD!

@Mark Bradley, you're right, the Fed's QE or (printing money) policies to simulate the economy is a bit dubious and dangerous.
But hey at least your 401k, housing prices, and employment in the private sector is going up.

Very interesting points by the commerce minister of China. I wonder what would happened to the global money supply, prices of good, and trade if China devalued the RmB in response the devaluation of the yen, dollar, euro, etc.
