Yes it seems mothers get easily distracted, and even on the train platforms - yesterday 3 kids racing around, chasing each other, and the mothers occasionally issuing a quiet "settle down," kids blithely ignoring them. And here in a busy crosswalk. Mother should also be charged with child neglect. God if it were my kid, I'd corral them quick!
