And the iPod sitting on top looks like a sitting duck ready to picked off. How about making it look like an integral part of the system.

Perfect image of Japanese nature, wires blocking every calming view.

Excellent spread. These breasts are ideal, won't stretch with age.

Quote: that bane of so many English-speaking foreigners here, “katakana English.”

My Chinese friends hate it a lot more, cuz they don't know the English words, and have no way to find out what they are and look them up in a dictionary, rendering many sentences illegible.

So, as English speakers, we are a lot luckier than most foreigners in Japan. Just substitute romaji, put in the original words! Get rid of Katakana totally.

The smoke said, "I never smoke and eat at the same time because it's gross." Butt, he smokes when others eat, thoroughly grossing them out.

I think my years in central Europe, and many years out of N. American prepared me to return to Japan, where the machine runs smooth. I just don't have the time to mess with staff. I want to enjoy my company and food. When I go to the same restaurant time after time, it's different. At my favorite restaurant, I get a nice hug from the chef every time. Something I never got "back home."

DRogers: you have given some excellent rejoinders. Thank you for keeping up with your readers, very refreshing, and unusual here. Happy dining.

"space_monkey: The human touch is often lacking though but that's how Japanese like it."

Not only the Japanese. Many customers from outside the USA/Canada appreciate a professional attitude by the wait staff, as opposed to the fawning, tip-sucking performances by N. American wait staff. I am not a good friend of that wait person, I am a customer, paying money to eat, and I don't appreciate the ingratiating attitude of N. Am. wait staff.

Orphan dolphins have little chance of surviving. How about letting a couple mature dolphins go free with them?

Oh dear, what's poor lil Japan going to do? Bullied by China, now bullied by the US. Life's not getting any easier for the galapagos isles west.

You can borrow a suit from your local fire department when you want to take out your suzumebachi nest, although the one I borrowed had quite a few tears in it, which I had to duct tape over. Wait until dark and take them out. If you have kids, get rid of the nests! It could be sayonara to your kids otherwise.

“Just adding pages to textbooks and pushing for more memorization isn’t going to get us anywhere,” argued Koji Kato, professor emeritus of education at Sophia University in Tokyo. “Japan needs to invest in developing thinking people for its future.”

"The new seats offer up to 1.5 inches more personal space!" Hoo-eee! Nothing about more legroom which is the biggest torture on intercontinental flights! All the rest is fluff.

On the contrary Alladin, Japanese are excellent at apologies. Just look at TV and you can see a multitude of apologies. Unfortunately I doubt many are heartfelt. But to apologize to a gaijin??? Never. And especially to a gaijin representing a country that humiliated your country in a war??? Hah!
