Young drivers need to be made more aware of the dangers involved in driving. I wonder if those old guidance class films like "Blood on the highway" are shown to kids in school these days. Young drivers get plenty of exposure to the thrills of driving through video games, feature films and the like, but how often are they exposed to the consequences of negligent driving? The elusive images of Nikki Catsouras (the Porsche girl) would perhaps be a start.

    Bush says he misses soldiers

Yeah? Well there's a lot of us who miss the soldiers.

Typically ignorant way of passively dealing with an issue instead of confronting the problem.

    Damage done by youngsters

Shouldn't this read; "Damage done by the criminals/vandals"?

It reminds me of that game where you can slide the features like ears, eyes, noses, etc., onto the faces next to or below each other. I wanna see "red nose" #1 wearing "spy girl" #2's glasses.

This article should be in Japanese, not English. The bombs are the fault of the Japanese, who could have surrendered earlier.

Albeit retrospective, this is the plain, simple truth.

You propose a list of hypothetical situations but then negate your own

statement by saying we shouldn't jump to conclusions.
What is extremely rare? JT posters jumping to conclusions or reading about discarded infants?

Deservedly harsh, but extremely well put. I would only concur with you and koizumi.

    Disillusioned

Where I come from, if you commit a serious offense while drunk the severity of the offense is increased, however, in Japan the severity of an offense is lessened and even justified by being drunk.

    Fascinating, isn't it?

...one resident of the apartment block telling police that she thought the child had been put outside crying in the middle of the night. Another resident said she was woken up by some thumping sounds which she thought sounded like someone jumping.

Hey, thanks neighbor! No reason to suspect anything. Roll over and go back to sleep.

Why can't I ever witness any of this blatant, public abuse?

Because the incompetent rejects don't do it when others are watching. -But I agree. I'd also love the chance to intervene.

Todays JT is Great!!! A heartwarming story about a 17 day old receiving a kidney transplant, and another comical statement from the leader himself. I love waking up to this type of news.

-I never thought I would see a world leader any less intelligent or any more clueless than GWB. But Aso is giving it a good try.

-Japanese people work LONG not HARD. That is a big difference.

tkoind2 and F21F have nailed it. Having a comedian as your country's representative is humorous for about an hour, (the average length of a comedy show), but then it becomes nothing more than an embarrassment. Michael Moore has done a fine job of compiling and presenting to us, the idiotic "gaffes" of GWB. Would a Japanese production company ever edit together a run of Aso's enlightening quips for entertainment purposes? I'd buy the DVD.

Flag is right. This is nothing new. However, "a balmy flavor and bitter taste"? Is that really the best way to describe it? Kind of sounds like what I would expect to taste after licking someones armpit.
