rather that broccoli isn’t nearly as prevalent in home-made meals as it is in the U.S

Casey, you do not know what you are talking about. Broccoli is very common and often appears on the table in Japan. It's just that most kids like it and it tastes good. A lot of vegetables in the U.S. are canned, such as brussel sprouts, spinach, etc. They taste like crap.

Johnson, Spieth, and Matsuyama were in the same group, with Johnson at 10 under and Spieth at 5 under. However, the article fails to mention Matsuyama at 6 under, who happens to be in the top ten. I thought this was JAPANtoday?

Clearly that is not the case if it took abouty 10 minutes for the train to stop after the alarm was pulled.

The bullet train was in a tunnel when the fire started so the driver waited until the train was completely out of the tunnel before stopping. In the meantime, a JR staff on board came and put out the fire. You can read more about it here :

Reaching across tables for empty glasses is pretty annoying, but my biggest pet peeve is bad Japanese : "ichi-man-en kara oazukarishimasu" or "___ni narimasu." Learn to speak your own language correctly first before trying to serve people.

hanko registration which must be renewed every three months

I'm afraid you're a bit mistaken. The "shoumeisho" is valid for 3 months, but you only need to show it once. It's only necessary for big transactions, such as purchasing property. For day-to-day business transactions it is not needed but surely as a business owner in Japan you know that.

Jane, I lived in Shinjuku 7-chome. I can tell you that there were such marches from time to time. Definitely not every week. More like once every few months. There were also police at hand. The simple reason for the decline of Shin Okubo? The "hanryu boom" has gone. It's the same with anything in Japan. Japanese love new things. Most people are bored of k-food, k-pop, and k-dramas.

I didn't know this was a requirement for being a visual artist. Don't get me wrong, I cringe every time I see (or hear) Yoko. I do respect her as an artist, though.

It's cheaper than taking the kids to that enormous 'insecurity tree" in Oshiage and it will be just as thrilling

You do realize it was built for a purpose, right? And sorry, I think a view from 450 meters is different from 150 meters.

A poster (hotmail) wrote that the virus has mutated and is now more likely to spread but much less deadly. Well, according to Dr. Gray, physician and professor of global health and infectious diseases, "There's no evidence the MERS virus has mutated."

In Japan a normal pension is around 60,000 yen per month

Sorry, that's wrong. Most people receive kousei nenkin which pays 150,000 yen on average. You are referring to kokumin nenkin which is for a small minority of people who are unemployed, part-timers, or freelance workers.

MERS, which has no known cure or vaccine, is considered a deadlier but less infectious cousin of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS)

Did I read that right? Deadlier? This morning on the Japanese yahoo website I read that a health official in S.korea has come under fire for saying that it's not an emergency unless 3 million people get infected. I say this should be considered an emergency now.

These aren't "manners". They are worn-out displays of phony "service"

Says a grumpy 50-something year old man living in America. The "have a nice day" that I received at clothing shops in the US may have been fake, but I still appreciated it. Same goes for the "fake" smiles waitresses gave me.

Love these pop-up sunshades. They cut UV rays and keep you surprisingly cool. Mine has a zipper so it can close all the way like a tent. Best 4000 yen I've spent.

Abenomics has not truly hit, or exceeded, any of its stated targets

Actually that's not correct. One of the main goals of Abenomics was a depreciation of the yen against the dollar. The yen went from 80 to 120 to the dollar. I would say they succeeded here. Don't get me wrong, I'm not an avid supporter of Abenomics. Just be careful not to ignore the facts.

From my experience, no one from that nation would have acted any differently than the captain did.

I would have to agree. Hearing about the panicking korean flight attendants banging on the doors of the airplane that crashed in Hiroshima didn't help either.

That must be why applications frequently crash when using the s6. Oh well, at least they don't suddenly catch on fire.
