Just like that they are going to leave behind a thriving business and take it "elsewhere"? I think you've fallen for that simplistic conservative rhetoric. For example, if you had a chain of successful shops in France, are you going to close them all down and leave because you have to pay more tax? And how easy do you think it is to start a whole new business in another country?

There`s no telling how much each student will require any school subject in their future lives. You just have to give a child as full an education as possible. If you had young kids in school, would you tell them not to bother studying English?

Yes, exactly. These 5 people obviously represent "the younger generation of today". Of course the intellectual intelligence of yesterday was far superior and without any thieving.

Maybe one reason the driver survived is that he would have been wearing his seat belt, but when I've been on these long-distance buses, I've never seen any passengers fasten them up (apart from myself).

Absolutely ludicrous and baseless generalization. If you have to generalize, parents "out here" are no different from parents "out there".

from wikipedia: Sarah O'Hara of the University of Nottingham in England, writing for the Lancet says that this doesn't mean that the effects are worse closer to the source. People further from the source of the dust are more often exposed to nearly invisible, fine dust particles that they can unknowingly inhale deep into their lungs, as coarse dust is too big to be deeply inhaled.[1] After inhalation, it can cause long term scarring of lung tissue as well as induce cancer and lung disease.

I wonder what it does to lungs.
In the last decade or so, it has become a serious problem due to the increase of industrial pollutants contained in the dust and intensified desertification in China causing longer and more frequent occurrences.

Many people hate the idea of trying to control the internet just for the benefit of the (mainly U.S.) movie and music industry. These industries are now using modern technology to make huge record profits on a scale they couldn't have dreamt of 20 years ago. Individuals concerned in these industries have become some of the richest people on earth. But they still want more. They estimate that piracy is costing them "billions", but conveniently overlook the fact that a huge majority who make "illegal" downloads wouldn
t buy the material anyway if they couldn't get it for free. The bottom line is that it is up to these industries to find a solution to their own problem without impinging on other peoples' freedoms. Once the internet has started to be controlled and censored by private interests, it wont be long before the whole system becomes restricted in many other ways.Posted in: Hollywood studios lose Australian download appeal

Millions of people watched this commercial and ONE person misguidedly complained it might encourage homosexuality. Talk about a misleading headline. Looks like more than a few took the bait though.

A very strange case. In usual circumstances, when a mother finds her child has died suddenly, she doesn`t go on an escapade like that. Surely a mother would be overcome with grief in that situation and would be totally unable to "bring the body of her daughter from her home to a forest in the same town by car and dump it there". She would call a neighbor or relative or the police and/or ambulance. There just must be some relevant details missing from this story.

No need for weeping. I
ve never mentioned Ishihara in any post. Im talking about governments standing up to China, not some wild card ex-actor. By the way, the correct expression is jesus wept.Posted in: Ishihara says Tokyo plans to buy disputed Senkaku islands

No, but it gives you more of a chance of being strong when necessary (like when Churchill took over from Chamberlain and he stopped appeasing the Nazis). China could have much better relations with its neighbors if it wanted to. But it doesn
t. China could control the situation in its satellite state, North Korea. But it doesnt want to. Theres a reason why it doesnt want these things and its called domination. If China doesnt change from within, it`s eventually going to take some country in the region to try to stand up to them and put them under pressure for a change.Posted in: Ishihara says Tokyo plans to buy disputed Senkaku islands

The Chinese government is a dangerous entity that needs to be stood up to. I`m usually all for dialogue but any dialogue with China at the moment is tantamount to appeasement of a disgusting regime. Their future goals are clear...complete territorial and economic dominance of the region. The best other countries in this part of the world can hope for is democratic change within China that ousts the present gang of dictators.

scary reading for men: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1223230/Older-men-likely-father-children-birth-defects.html
and for women:
There is a decline in a woman’s fertility as she ages be due to less frequent ovulation or to problems such as endometriosis. Women generally have some decrease in fertility starting in their early 30s and it is normal for a woman over 35 to take longer to conceive than a younger woman.
But there is good news. Since the late 1970s, birth rates for women in their late 30s and 40s have increased dramatically. According to the National Center for Health Statistics, between 1978 and 2000, the birth rates for women age 35 to 44 more than doubled. However, women should be aware of the risks associated with childbearing after the age of 35 so that they can make informed decisions about their pregnancies.
According to the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, about one-third of women between age 35 and 39 and two-thirds of women over 40 have fertility problems. However, once they conceive, healthy women over 35 or into their 40s usually have healthy pregnancies. Pregnant women who are 35 or older face some special risks, but many of these risks can be managed effectively with good prenatal care. Keep in mind that the increased risk, even for the oldest women, can usually be successfully treated.

He
s not representing Japan in any official capacity, but I wonder if he might be representing Japanese oil companies desperate for Iranian oil supplies. Also, lets not be naive about "interfering in other countries` affairs". Dictatorship regimes like those in Iran (which has a mere facade of democratic elections) and North Korea are an extreme threat to world peace because circumstances exist where these countries would actually consider using these terrible weapons. These "governments" realize that having nuclear weapons capable of striking Western Europe will be invaluable in keeping themselves in power. Iran could have nuclear power without the capabilities for making nuclear weapons, but it has refused to go down this peaceful path for obvious reasons.Posted in: Iran tells Hatoyama it will not give up nuclear program
