Again, Koreans acting as victims. It looks like the Koreans are in desperatae need of critisizing Japan. They use whatever as an excuse to complain and whine against Japan. It must be their insecurity and inferiority complex that act as a driving force to make them do so. And it is funny to see how they like to victimize themselves when in the reality they have nothing to do with WWII. If they had a role in WWII, the only role that played in WWII was that of collaborators of the Japanese in invading China and committing war crimes as well as mistreating the British and American POWs.

    To hereforeever,

The reason that you don't notice the mess that DPJ is that probably becasue you are non-Japanese and don't care if the Japanese sovereignty over its territory is threatened. The DPJ did more damage (a huge one) to the Japanese sovereignty over its disputed islands in just three years than the LDP in the 50 years. They give China a big opportunity to strengthen their stance over the Senkaku and made Chinese intrusion into our waters and airspace an everyday affair. It all started when the loopy Hatoyama worsen the Japanese-American relation of which China took advantage as we know to start their intrusion into the Senkaku area.

If China is critisizing, then it means that Japanese voters did the right thing.

So China is saying "We will intrude your airspace, water, and will try to steal Senkaku and probably Okinawa in the future, but you must not retaliate or defend your territory". What an arrogant spoilt country!

I just don't understand those who think that there will be war when Japan change the constitution. Could you give a detailed explanation backing such prediction? The Article 9 does not allow the possesion of military force. As far as I know most of the countries in the world have military. Are all of these countries warmongers? If they are allowed to posses military, why not Japan? Is Japan threatning to attack or invade other countries? No!! It is China that is threatning Japan. Are you guys that naive to think that China won't do anything if Japan maintains the Article 9? The current govertnment is central-leftist. They are known for being weak against China. Did that fact improve the Sino-Japanese relation during the last three years? No!! China took advantage of that and they started intruding both the water and the airspace of Senkaku. That's why Japan should take a strong position when dealing with China. The Chinese are historically known for considering kindness as weaknes, and play rough with weak countries, while they compromise when dealing with strong countries. That's why I think Japan should play tough with China, and this Article 9 is a major weakness for Japan in terms of diplomacy with China. If you don't like this movement of changing the constitution, please take your complaints to China.

Of course!,when you have a country like China at your doorstep threatening you and trying to steel your land knowing that you cannot do much because of this Article 9. If Japan was surrounded by peaceful nations, this may not be necessary, but unfortunately the reality is different.

Thank you China for waking us up. You are getting us to realize that we don't live in a Utopia and this Article 9 is bringing us more damage than peace, as you are trying to do whatever you want knowing that Japan cannot do many things due to this Artcile 9. Now there are more an more Japanese who are in favor of changing the constitution and re-militarizing Japan, which resulted in the victory of LDP.

Those who are critisizing Abe as warmonger for trying to change the Article 9 and rearm Japan, I bet you come from countries that don't have military force such as Costa Rica. At least he is not threatening to use that military force to attack other countries or take other countries' lands by force unlike what China is doing. He wants Japan to have a sufficient military force to be able to protect itself like most countries. There are more and more Japanese who are in favor of rearmed Japan as we are realizing that we do not live in a utopia where everyone lives in peace and respects each other. We have China at our doorstep trying to take our islands for god sake. Ironically it is China that is making us realize that the Article 9 is not doing any favor and it is encouraging China to do whatever she wants like a bully. So if you are not happy with rearmed Japan, take your complaints to China.

China has no right to claim Okinawa. If China can claim Okinawa just based on the fact that Okinawa used to be a tributary state of China, then China can claim Vietnam, Korean Peninsula, Cambodia etc. If China can claim Okinawa because this island received massive cultural influence from China, then Greeks and Italains can claim the whole Europe. This is beyond a nonsense!

China is totally lying! Senkaku islands were already incorporated into Japan as terra nulius, a few months before the treaty of Shimonoseki in which China ceded Taiwan. So the Senkakus has nothing to do with this treaty, nor with the first Sino-Japanese war.

Forgot to add one thing. When these islands were under US administration, the US used these islands as a training field for their marines. If China really thought that those islands were Chinese, why didn't they asked the US military to stop landing in these islands? Imagine if a foreign military land in your territory without your consent, it is invasion. Yet China didn't bother. Why?

Again, if China really thought that Japan stole those islands from them, why didn't they claimed the islands when Japan surrendered? Why didn't China claimed those islands when USA started to administered them. Why did their state-owned media published an article where these islands were described as Japanese in 60's. China only started to claim these islands in early 70's when the area was found to be rich in gas. The fact that China ignored these islands till 70's proves that they did not considered these islands to be theirs, and they want to gain them for the natural resources that are burried in the waters. China should stop acting like a bully and claim every island and land that they see as valuable territories.

And the Koreans should teach that many Koreans volunteerly joined Japanese military and many of them committed war crimes against citizens and POW, some of whom were executed as war criminals. Koreans playing the victim card would be equivalent to Austrians pretendimg to be victims.

I don't know if the election of Abe will be good or bad for Japan, yet. But those who say that the relation between Japan and China will get worse because he is a hard-liner against China are so naive. So you think the tense between these countries will get calmed by having a soft-liner as a leader? When Democratic Party gained power, Hatoyama said that he wanted to make East-China sea as sea of friendship and fraternity between Japan and China, and we all know what happened afterwards. China sent a fishing boat which rammed into Japanese Coast Guard ship, and threatned Japan with economic sanction. What I am trying to say is if you take soft stance against China, China will take it as a sign of weakness and will try to take advantage of the situation. So I hope that whoever will be the next Prime Minister of Japan, will stand firmly with cojones against this rouge state. When we were kids, we all saw bullies picking on other kids. Did these bullies picked on strong kids who could fight back? NO! They picked on weaker kids. Same thing apply to China, which is the bully of east Asia.

    Dear chuck3176,

Japan can do whatever she wants with these islands as they are Japanese. Chinese claims over these islands are not based on international law, which explains why they never suggests to take the matter to the International Court of Justice. They did not even consider them to be their territory which explains why China never complained when when the USA administered those islands after WWII.

    Dear Zenpun,

All of these messes were primarily caused by China by claiming islands that they never controlled or even showed interest till a few decades ago when it was found that the area is rich in natural resources, and by making their people believe that those islands were taken by Japan along with Taiwan from China by force. Don't forget that this kind of anti-Japanese demonstrations are encouraged and orchestrated by the Chinese government when they see it is the right moment to put pressure on Japan. Stop being naive! The owner wanted to sell these islands when the lease was about to terminate. However as the government did not show interest, Tokyo tried to buy these islands to build infrastructure. The government then tried to prevent this by nationalizing the islands in order to prevent provoking China. So at least the Japanese government tried to calm the situation by avoiding installing any kind of infrastructure in these islands. Just because the government is not trying to renounce these islands, this dose not mean that they are right-wingers!

I think Japan can do whatever it wants with these islands as they are Japanese territory. It is China that is trying to worsen the peace in Asia by claiming and trying to take over islands that they have never possessed or controlled. Don't forget that China is also claiming the whole South China Sea.

    To neobis,

You are confusing Taiwan with the Senkaku islands like many Chinese as both islands were incorporated into Japan in the same year. Japan incorporated the Senkakus after confirming that no one owned it as terra nullius. It was not ceded to Japan from China along with Taiwan in the Shimonoseki Treaty. So it does not have anything to do with the first Sino-Japanese war.

    To neobios,

This whole mess all started when China started to claim these islands for the first time in history in early 70's when they realized that the area surrounding these islands is rich in natural resource. China did not even consider these territories to be Chinese till then as maps published in China in 60's showed that these islands were Japanese. China did not even complain when the United Stated administered these islands after WWII.

    To Sir_Edgar,

If you try to hold a violent demonstration in a country where it is not allowed to hold a demonstration without the government's approval and the government approves it, and as soon as the government tells you to stop and you stop then this demonstration is deemed to be orchestrated by the government. Even this 'hatred' against Japan is artificially created by the CCP by filling their citizen's heads with anti-Japanese propaganda since they were kids in the school, which explains why many Chinese in their 20's and 30's feel as if they themselves suffered from the imperial Japan 70 years ago and think present-day Japan is the same as the imperial Japan.
