During the trial last year the Sea Shepherd said they had thrown Pete Bethune out of the group, then afterwards they stated this was just a ploy to get lenient treatment. With that in mind, this time the judge may well throw the book at them this time round.

There is no such thing as a temporary increase in tax. The extra tax on petrol was supposed to be temporary, it's been in place for about 40 years now.

An increase in tax will kill the economy and lead to a decrease in revenue.

Why's everyone beating up on Eric? It's not like we are the target audience, so what if he is getting wrinkly, we all grow old. More power to them both, it's a fun show, upbeat and well thought out, even if it doesn't quite have the educational content of Peppa Pig.

I agree that the stations and trains are too noisy, the speakers on the platform are usually low quality and the sound is distorted, which is bad for your ears. Provision should be made for the blind but the volume over all should be turned down and the sound quality improved. The stations are also too brightly lit, they are lit up even during the day. it's a huge waste of electricity.

I'm surprised she has time & money to spend on her own appearance, I hope she's not one of those parents who puts their kids in yochien then never pays. I wonder if her own mama helps her out with the child care.

She replied, “When you fight, the man should apologize."

She's right, say sorry, and forget it. A man should not allow the situation develop into an argument, you will always lose, because women are always right about everything, even when they are wrong.

I wouldn't ask him anything, I'd ask Mrs Obama since she is obviously the smart one. I'd ask her when she's going to run for President.

I do think she is cool, but there is a poster for some beauty clinic featuring her at the moment where her leg just looks really weird. I think they didn't want to do an obvious Photoshop lengthening and instead opted for deep shadow to make it look thin but it just looks strange.

Do I spend too much time on station platforms ?

AUM shinrikyo was a convenient excuse to remove garbage bins and the expense of emptying them. There are few benches because they don't want to give homeless people even that comfort, those that there are have bars on them to make it impossible to sleep.

However there is no shortage of money to put iron bars all over the paths to obstruct people's movement, or numerous signs telling people what not to do. Entering any public park means negotiating an obstacle course, walking any path means avoiding pointless barriers every 10 yards.

I am convinced the general pessimism and lack of energy in Japan at the moment is a result of, or at least compounded by, this subliminal negativity and obstruction to free movement.

Sea Shepherd announced during Bethune’s trial it would not let him participate in further protests, but after his release said the ban was a tactic to help him avoid prison and that he was free to rejoin.

Thanks guys for giving us gaijin that little extra credibility if we find ourselves in difficult circumstances in Japan.

I think Mr Araki is from a wealthy family, hard to see how he makes a living from this. I'm not sure a bounty hunter would post so much personal information on the internet.

The talent agencies here do have a stranglehold on the business, the degree to which they restrict "talented" people is hard to say. They certainly "look after" their talents to the point of molly coddling them. Perhaps what Ms Sawajiri is really miffed about is the amount of money they take before they pay the "talent" their salary. Having said that if she goes up against Johnny's and kicks that old lech into the bleachers she has my vote.
