I was in a computer store in Niigata today, and I was obliged to disinfect my hands on entering the store (at a 'disinfection station' at the entrance). That's overreacting, but the store is not an 'authority.' Nonetheless, I am interested in how much press this is getting in other countries versus that in Japan.

In Japan I am always reminded of the threat of foreign invasion - be it bugs, questionable food products, flora and fauna, or just simply we gaijins.

Oh, I've got some meat she can eat!!!

“Recently I’ve been drinking a lot at home and it’s lonely.”

That would be a sign of actual or imminent alcoholism in some countries, but in Japan it's just an indicator that it's time to start looking for a partner...to drink with!

When asked about her rumored steamy relationship with a music producer, Kawahara commented, “Things are going well.”

    Glad she got the opportunity to clear that one up. ;

After 10 minutes on Ichiro at the top of tonight's NHK 7PM news, we had about 7 minutes concerning the wonderful 'suprises' (yes the translator used this word at least three times) that the IOC committee was given, as if they were guests at a children's party. Jeez.

What happened to the regular probing questions???

At what age do they hope to be married? What are they going to get their respective boyfriends for Valentine's Day? What are their respective blood types? Do they like chubby men? Can they cook a good breakfast? Etc...

Different cost to the carrier, so different cost to the customer. Perfectly equitable, regardless of the casuse of obesity.

This means that a person suffering from anorexia nervosa should pay less? Get on the scales and determine the ticket price? I'd go on a diet for that!

Someone in a wheelchair (no matter the cause) must cost them more, but they don't charge more for that, for the inconvenience they cause through the need for extra attention. They even get to board planes ahead of the able-bodied patrons. What's with that? (sarcasm, folks...)

The 'litigation' comment concerned the fact that in a litigious country, this could be perceived as a negative prejudice towards a percentage of the community, and that could be the basis of litigation.

It'll be interesting to see how this all pans out.

The World Cup treatment was generally good by everyone except the authorities and media.

I might be an exception, albeit slightly. On my way to see an exhibition game in Sendai prior to the real competition, a group of elementary schoolkids pointed at me and said 'hooligan' - the media and authorities had certainly got their message through to them.

Doesn't this decision have 'litigation' written all over it...?

I'd even stand in line to do it.

If Tokyo gets the Olympics you'll definitely be standing in line - for pretty much everything that's going on in Tokyo. Better start getting into training!

Did he suffer from a stroke recently? Whats with talking out the side of his mouth all the time? I dont understand!!

I always feel this trait gives him a gangster-ish appearance, hence my nickname for him: Muggsy.

    Oh, charming comment there.

In my-soon-to-finish job, I worked with a schemer and a bully. Both of those qualities went hand-in-hand with him, and will continue long after I've gone.
