Good on the guy for sticking up for his girlfriend. He`d probably had enough of liquored up ji-ji generally bringing the tone of the place down. And anyway ji-ji assaulted his girlfriend first. And he was drunk so might have overbalanced, tripped, who knows. 18yo guy hardly deserves to be labelled a "madman"

The employers only have themselves to blame. Decades of exploiting their workers with enforced, unpaid overtime "for the good of the company", and sacrificing family life to conform to some bogus work ethic ideology, is to blame for this situation. Well done to those who resist the trap their fathers fell into. Why would you want to work for some of those companies anyway?

And she could do with a good fry up- bacon, eggs, beans, sausages, mushrooms, tomato, toast- or three.

I think Kirin will also get West End in Adelaide as thats part of Lion Nathan too. But thats nothing to write home about. I`d rather drink flat, warm Coopers.

    No way

We all know whats going to happen, right? Billions of yen wasted on monstrous, ugly facilities that will be used for 2 weeks, then forgotten. And all that money siphoned off by massive construction company executives, who just happen to be ex-public servants or government ministers, and have a compliant and persuasive media that can sway an ill-informed population to believe anything. And in the end, the people of Japan, especially Tokyo, are forced to say thank you for the few crumbs that are thrown their way. Then, 5 years down the track, back to square one, Japan`s back in recession.

Thanks so very much, Texas. Come on, lighten up, in these harsh recessionary times of uncertainty and rising unemployment, these ladies are a beacon of hope and a reminder of what is great about your country. Not to mention very easy on the eye.

I`m sure the money will be put to good use in such innovative ways as junkets for local government officials to Italy, pay rises and cement to cover any remanents of greenery that still exist in the Osaka area.

This and the "shaken" system are rorts to keep the Japanese consuming cars. A fuel efficiency measure of the stimulus package? Give us a break. Keep your car maintained and roadworthy and you should get a lifetime of service out of it, a much better use of resources than chucking it out with 50,000km on the clock.

So intimidating, terrorising and robbing elderly people is "an example of Japanese ingenuity", is it? Sheer cowardice is how i`d put it.

    Bushlover, good point, well put.

Ultrashaman, rubbish, its far more prevalent in Japan as it is a cultural trait that has been pointed out on this site many, many times. That "oh, it happens in other societies too" response is typical of the many Japanophiles and apologists that post here who fail to recognise that other countries actually DO SOMETHING about these incidents, instead of the Japanese response of "well, just another weirdo" and toddle of to work or change the channel.

If it truly "didnt matter who" was going to cop a trashing, why didnt he go to a koban a pick a fight? Well, we all know the answer, right? Because hes a coward who thought he was tough with a few drinks in him and his mates behind him. Dare say hell be meeting our friend, Mr. Noose in the future.
