mansen: exactly! That's the most important piece of info I got from this article, too! lol

If the US bases were smaller, the servicemen would be off-base more and amongst the Japanese more. More servicemen golfing at Japanese golf clubs, more servicemen hanging out at Japanese malls. Sounds like more problems to me.

And the mayor who is "balking" at having the base moved to his area should remember that it is a national-level decision and not his to make.

Lighten up. Obviously you've never seen the size of some of the "dishes" in Japan.

furthermore, if they can get Portuguese (or other language) off the phone, you know they'll get numbers called and possibly the owner of the phone.

fingerprints were undoubtedly left. The car had been stolen several years ago and the suspects left in a hurry. There are prints and they will likely be found. If they left a mobile phone, they will have left other things.

If sent messages on a phone were found to be written in Portuguese, it would be a logical jump to assume the suspects were of foreign origin.

My guess is that the case will be cracked rather easily, and based on evidence found in the suspects (stolen) car. Perhaps memory in the GPS system showing where the car has been, receipts or mail.

"We were just trying to do the right thing,” the group’s leader, Laura Silsby said

The right thing to do would be to go through proper channels. It's bad enough that we have foreigners coming into the US illegally. We don't need our citizens bringing in foreigners illegally as well!

Personally, I'm surprised the Haitian police managed to catch them with all the problems their having there. Still, Laura Silsby and Co., were out of line.

    Nintendo chief = iPad envy

While Jobs did look pretty silly holding what appeared to be an over-sized iPod, the gadget has a lot of great features. iPad will likely crush Kindle and Apple will take over the eBook market. But I don't think it will end there.

First it was Pat Roberts, then it was Rush Limbaugh, now its today's clown Alain Joyandet. Can't we just send these people to Saipan or some place like that so that'll be that last we hear of them?

Saipan is not exactly a prison. It's more of a tropical paradise. Still, you're right - some people have made some pretty dumb (callous) comments about Haiti.

I think France is just embarrassed and is expressing it in a bad way.

well put movieguy. The US makes it hard for legitimate applications for entry to the country and yet seem to welcome the illegals from Mexico with open arms. Makes me sick.

So USA giving aid to Haiti will look good to the world, and the US can probably coerce the Haitian government to supply some troops for US wars (once Haiti is back on it's feet)

Looks like a win-win situation for the US government.

Just don't "liberate" them and make them a territory!
