This ad wouldn't put me off Japanese beer - they manage to put me off it enough when they show someone drinking it with the loud gulping noises! Just so unnecessary!! Makes me want to puke to be honest!
As for the head of a beer, you can simply say "Ow wa nashi, kudasai" (泡なしください) which means "No bubbles please", and is understood as saying you don't want a head on your beer. I've never had a problem in any bar or restaurant when asking them to bring my beer without a head on it.

My car's TV system cuts out when you release the handbrake to move the vehicle. Seeing other drivers with TV's playing while driving is a pet-peeve of mine. No TV should be allowed to play within the driver's view while a vehicle is in motion!

Maybe he per-planned his visit to his friend, and the decision to stay with him was last minute? Why else would you leave the key? Or maybe he planned it all along and the key story is a lie?
Let's wait for more details instead of speculating.
RIP young lady.

Sorry, but this is complete and utter nonesense!
Yamaguchi area is run on electricity provided by local factories and Chugoku Denki. When the typhoon tore through here a few years ago, much of the area was left without electricity from the latter provider, but the companies soon had everyone up and running. Within three days the entire area was back to normal. we don't have a single nuclear power plant here, and the one they proposed building in 2004 was scrapped as an idea after local opposition to it. We also have one of the lowest emissions rates in the entire nation, year-on-year.
While emissions may rise across the eastern part of Japan due to a return to traditional methods of power production, I think it will be far less than this projected number. If one thing has been learned here, it's that self-sufficiency is easily attainable through alternative methods with minimum impact on the environment.
All this unnecessary worry about Japan not using nuclear energy is unfounded!

Tokuyama Zoo in Yamaguchi prefecture - absolutely appalling conditions!! Lions are kept in cages smaller than a 6 tatami mat sized room, with no straw, just concrete. One of the lions is so emancipated, the poor thing just lays around all day. In the summer, most of the animals have little to no shelter from the scorching sun and the penguin enclosure is a smell to be believed!
I am all for having zoos if animals are kept in near normal conditions as they would have in their homelands. But this particular zoo should have been closed decades ago!!

Not allowing epilepy sufferers to drive is just plain common sense!! Heart goes out to the familes of those lost. The driving laws need to be toughened for the safety of all.

Again, China would do well to remember where it is in the economic marketplace and start supporting those countries that have contributed to its massive growth in recent years. China is like NK's mother - and that is one child that needs a smack on the rear!

Notice a lot of thumbs down on some comments where a Mac user has defended the sturdiness of a Mac...must be from Windows users!
I've been using Mac for 3 years...no intention of going back to Windows-we-guarantee-you'll-be-buying-another-pc-within-five-years or Microsoft! Mac doesn't need Adobe Flash, so anyone dumb enough to believe such a mail doesn't deserve to have a high end machine like a mac!
timeon - yeah, good luck with McAfee! Resource hog and complete crap!

The Taliban and Al Quaeda have both expressed interests in waging Jihad on Japan as they have other nations. It would be naive to think that Japan is immune to terrorist threat, given its ties to America and other nations.
The current standard of security at Haneda is below par, but still has one of the most visual presences of security I've seen. Just my opinion.

I live just 6 miles away from Hikari city, and it's a well known story around here. This man has tirelessly worked at both his job and for justice for his pregnant wife and 11 month old daughter. Otsuki destroyed a family. He took 3 lives with no regard for anything but his own selfishness. One can only hope that now they will bring his punishment quickly.

I would rather they keep this train in service between Hakata and Hiroshima. Some of the current trains used for that journey are so old and outdated it's unbelievable! Recently been traveling on the new 700 series and the new Kyushu shinkansen…sheer luxury!!

I agree with GDemmons - turn off all the vending machines, close the game centers after 11pm, turn off neon signs in the city and you're halfway there! Haven't noticed a whole lot of energy problems when it comes to requiring it for heating all winter. Then again, haven't seen a whole lot of the donated money being used to help people either. TEPCO should really stop what they are doing and hand this off on to someone who knows what to do. They can also save energy by not having the air-conditioners turned to 28 celsius all summer!

Got to love the Apple haters! I watched the entire video from Apple on the new iPad this morning and wasn't all that impressed. I have iPad 1 and 2, and managed to download all the relevant apps and updates for both, except iPhoto for iPad 1. I have a Windows 7 system too, next to my iMac. The Windows computer gets used once every 2 months or so, if it's lucky. Apple devices fulfill all my needs and more. I simply lost faith in Windows after two of my favourite laptops died within 5 months of each other last year, and my previous Windows system a year before that. The iMac is reliable and suits my needs. The iPad has been a complete boon to my working life and has helped me make thousands of $$$ over the past year and a half of owning them! Love it or hate it, Apple is here to stay and will continue to dominate the market. But I'm not in a hurry to get the "New iPad".
