It looks like they're trying to keep businesses (in central Tokyo, at least) operating by making sure they have the power they need.
If Tepco asks for voluntary reduction of electrical use, they can't be sure they will have the power. Some homeowners will, some won't; some businesses will, some won't (reduce power use) - by having rolling brownouts, Tepco will be sure the central businesses have the power they need.
This may reduce the impact on the economy.

Minamisanriku (10,000 people lost, over half the town’s population) and Rikuzentakata, (5,900 of its population of 24,000 are accounted for) will likely not recover nor benefit from tourism. These small towns have been wiped off the face of the earth.

I'd like to see a Jimmy Page/Robert Plant/John Paul Jones trio team up with Kinki Kids. Or Slipknot and AKB48. Those combos would definitely hit a road.

smithinjapan,
I just heard a bunch of figures about app sales for Apple-related products and for Android-related products. I wasn't paying attention, of course, but the figure Billions was connected to Apple products and Million to Android.
People are designing for where they can make the most money the most quickly, I suspect, and the Android app market is, so far, much smaller than the Apple app market. Apparently.

Because if the media were to make a big deal out of a much bigger, more important scandal, like political bribe-taking and slush funds by certain politicos, they'd experience a completely legal 'disruption of business.'

The BusinessInsider at businessinsider.com mentions that as the UNemployment rate goes down, so too does the Employment rate (the number of adults working) - more people are retiring. That means as the older generation stops working, the unemployment rate will continue to fall but economic growth will not follow.

When Costco can get a huge discount from suppliers because of the massive quantity they buy, their prices will be lower. Mom and pop stores can't get the discount so their prices will be higher. And shoppers will go for the lower price.
So not only Costco but also convenience stores have run the mom and pop stores out of business (and other poorly run stores).
Plus, the last time I went to a mom and pop store, they didn't have anything I wanted and, judging by the number of customers not in the store, they didn't have what lots of people wanted.

Just to continue giving you the heebiejeebies, the dead - as in no life support, no heart beating, no brain activity, in the morgue - also jerk about on occasion, kicking and flailing their arms around.
People who want to be buried (or cremated) with the bodies intact are of the belief that their earthly remains will reappear in heaven or future lives. While this might be true, no one has proof either way, it assumes that the body that reappears will be the healthy young one, not the cancerous, decrepit, 90-year-old senile one.

"Shanghai" is an international film because it has stars from different countries? That makes "Star Wars," all three "Rush Hours"and almost all Charlie Chaplin movies 'international,' doesn't it?
Being interested in noirish films like this, I'll probably see it. Looking forward to it, actually.
