Speculative practices ARE the dominant factor at the moment in the price surge. It's not a hidden conspiracy it is openly there to be viewed by all as a sign the machinations of free market are running true to text.

The immediate larger problem of such artificially inflated prices, is…

This not so much about "OMG, 2 whales murdered.." as just another example of the system failing and deceiving the public once again. Food mis-labelling and other associated deceptive practices have broken many of the Japanese consumers trust and confidence in what they have been lead to believe - naively…

Kwaabish - I think you misread my bit.

Where did I mention anything about bodies buried at Yasukuni?

And I guess my Japanese friends are part of the Asian media / govt. officials corps.

    Or should I try-to-spell-it-out-more-explicitly - they are Japanese, non-media, non-govt types ... and oh did I forget…

Sabiwabi - The two friends definitely exist and I assure you they are intelligent free thinking persons who have a zest for life. Narrowness isn't in their set. And as I stated their opposition is founded on their relatives being enshrined there without consent and unbefitting of their deceased relatives…

Sabiwabi - what in your mind constitutes "anti-Japan"? Two close Japanese friends of mind HATE the whole notion of Yasukuni. One, an elderly doctor who has worked tirelessly for years for his community, has tried unsuccessfully to get his enshrined father (a war time doctor) un-enshrined. He despises the glorification…
