So if I understand who's to blame it would be Clinton for 16 years and Obama for 1 month (and counting). Really does speak highly of Bush's leadership.
Hint to GOPers: Real leaders take real responsibility. Why do you think Bush cannot handle responsibilty?

How about "Best Original Story About the Oscars"?
I guess those stories have to be written first.

Of course Bush's term as ... whatever it was ... started on 9/12/01.
Does that mean the GWH Bush was responsible for the first attack on the WTC because it happened within weeks of Clinton's inauguration?
Seems like you think Bush Jr. is a pussy because it isn't strong enough to be held responsible for what happened during his term in office. Clinton on the other hand is a real leader because you feel he is strong enough to carry another leader's blame.

Sorry. Sarge set me off with his snide "gratitude" comment - as if there was nothing to protest - and I just included in my outburst.
To clarify what I think, sure most military personal probably try to do there jobs, but I distrust anyone trying to pawn off their military as something akin to boy scouts beit Americans in Iraq, Japanese in China, Canadians in Germany any war anywhere cruel and degrading activities will happen: war is a cruel and degrading business.
For anyone to suggest that the Iraqis have no cause for protest because of somehow soldiers are sanctified from the horrors of war is to demonstrate a deep disrespect towards the Iraqi people. Trying to preserve ones dignity in horrible circumstances deserves a nod of respect - even if it is something as pitiful as throwing ones shoes.

Duh, no not every US soldier shoots guns either. But to imply that the US presence in Iraq has been ... how does one say ... not meriting protest or a few cuss words is delusional.

badmigraine (is there a good one?)
Good summary of what ordinary people were faced with: either drink the housing bubble koolaid or go elsewhere. And the kick to the ego too ... the expectation was finish school, get a job, buy a house (or a version of that) ... we all grew up with that, everyone was primed since childhood to buy and the markets took advantage.

Here's a newsflash: Obama's mother was white.
Why should any man or woman have to justify the race of their spouse? How does quizzing the president (beit Obama, Bush, Clinton on down the line) on this issue move the discussion of race forward?

I am not a fan of Ichiro, but a team does not lose as many games as it does because of one player. And going after Ichiro this early does not look good for the Mariners.

Microsoft's campaign to be cool like Apple reminds me of Toronto's campaign in the early 90s to be cool like NY and London.
If you got to prove you are the same as your rivals, then you are not the same. Apple, NY, London and so on do not define themselves according to others ... they define themselves. Period. Microsoft has always been a great marketing company, but scratch the surface and you'll find a company that follows innovation, it doesn't define it.

And the choice is? How about having or not having a job? What good is any -ism liberal or otherwise if you can't put food on the table? If providing for my family means supporting my own company from my wallet, then that's what I do because there are precious few other options these days (unless you're a Wall St. banker of course).

Osakadaz great that you were able to quit for 2 weeks in Oz, all you need to do is to tell yourself that smoking is not an option when you return. For example next time you return from Oz change your morning routine (mine was coffee and a smoke, then a stop at the kiosk on the way to work). Yes there is physical addiction which you have to gut it out, but there is also behavioural patterns that have to be broken.
Anyway, sad to see that my quitting last August has not hurt JT's bottom line... I feel much better though.
