Now just hold on a minute here. I was told that once Obama took office,

Yeah and you were also told that Saddam had yellow cake, WMDs and a whole lot of other make-believe.

Only children accept what they are told without question.

What is the breakdown of those 700? How many are there for relatively minor offences or because of a vindictive boss? While the usual suspect harangue about liberals and unions, they offer no solutions on how to reverse the situation or how to avoid it.

First step would be to review the cases and reinstate teachers with relatively minor offences or reassign them to productive non-teaching duties. Then prioritize serious offences so as to dispose of them ASAP to either stop tax-payer money from paying truly undeserving teachers or reinstate teachers wrongly accused since this affects their professional reputation.

It is probably impossible to eliminate paid disciplinary leave altogether, but surely it can be refined.

JoeBigs you got a very interesting point. The rabid Right seethe so much against Obama as their leader but blithely assume he's everyone else's leader. Talk about egomaniacs.

Republicans talk, talk, talk, all talk about the big game, but when the ball is in their hands they fumble, run off and field and then claim victory. Think the Kurds in Iraq. Saddam massacred them after they rose up against him. Why? GWHBush made promises that were forgotten.

Now the Republicans are getting all waxy about democracy and freedom and talk, talk, talk - if talk was BS, they could get into agriculture and feed the world's hungry.

buddha - "I do not like Palin the politician" What's not to like?

Sarge, if the Obamaniacs are too much for you, then why do you sound like them when Palin's name comes up? She has never impressed me politically (even on issues where I tend to be more conservative) and now she is just a political celebrity having it out with TV comedian. Sorry.

The angry mom, I get. Beyond that she is a famous person with some power and influence and there are a lot of people like that in this world.

JoeBigs I have no idea why you would lump me with the "far right wingers" just because I think Letterman made an oopsy on TV. I do not like Palin the politician but that does not blind me to the fact that Letterman sought to needle her through her children. That would get most parents riled - even a liberal like me.

He doesn't get a pass because he is a comedian, that's part of the job description - failure. And failure is not failure if there are no consequences. Colbert flirted with failure when he roast Bush and the Media several years ago. He succeeded because he was able walk the audacious line; Letterman didn't and now he is paying the price.

Molenir Since when did Farrahkhan speak for the average Obama supporter? Until this link, the only people I heard or read calling Obama "the Messiah" are his ideological foes.

That's understandable, most conservatives get tagged by the Left whenever Rush, Beck, O'Reilly etc. say something that can be taken political advantage of - which is often.

Not much of a debate and certainly not enlightening nor in democracy's best interest.

JT - I think you can omit the "land" in "crash-land" from the title :). It just crashed...

No "crash-land" is correct because it was controlled and intentional. Other space vehicles "landed" on the moon because they were designed to land, Kaguya was not designed to land.

And I agree with nimbus who said that this controlled crash-landing provides valuable data in case an emergency cropped up on a manned flight.

He's a comedian, get over it.

The joke failed and he was offensive. It happens from time to time. Accept it.

This was clearly a joke malfunction and Letterman - though I believe him when he said he was referring to the 18yr old and not the 14yr. old - got caught with his junk hanging out with no fig leaf to cover himself or the busted joke.

He offended the parents (I'd be pissed too) and he will have to eat it for a while. I am no fan of the Palin soap opera, but sometimes you have to accept that there are limits.

For those of you who have tried to justify the old man's actions read what his son has to say:

"For the extremists who believe my father is a hero: it is imperative you understand what he did was an act of cowardice," Erik von Brunn wrote. "To physically force your beliefs onto others with violence is not brave, but bullying. Doing so only serves to prove how weak those beliefs are. It is simply desperation, reminiscent of a temper tantrum when a child cannot get his way. Violence is a cop out; an easy answer for an ignorant problem."

Why would Honda want their taint? I heard that Honda is out selling everybody in N.A. If true, then they obviously found the right formula to emerge much stronger.

This was this mans main arguement.

So where is it written he has the right to murder?

Whether or not his is the unwanted political child of the Left or Right, I don't know (I'll let the nutters argue this one until the moderator tells them to go home). What I do know is that von Brunn is a part of the political culture in America and it bodes ill that 3 political killings have occurred in the past 3 weeks. Killing for ideology is not a good sign for America.

I wouldn't get an iPhone for one reason ... Softbank. Their sales staffs are creepy, arrogant, and can't give a straight answer to a simple question. I actually walked into the shop in Shinsaibashi ready to buy one and walked out 30 mins later determined to buy an iPod Touch instead. A bunch of boneheads if you ask me.

How about going after those that hire illegals? That isn't happening because apparently the US economy needs underpaid and overworked illegals. Focusing only on the illegals is merely political show and does nothing to address the problem.

A lot a cynicism about Obama - had other US presidents been more effective then Kim would not be Obama's problem. But the DPRK is his problem and he seems to want to try a different tact than the ones that failed.
