Kick out the USA and invite Canada to come protect this great nation.

Wow implosion I guess you sympathize with these poor pirates. Pity most of us don't. I agree with blowing them out of the water. We must sacrifice some hostages to teach them that taking hostages won't be profitable. It's like giving into a little kid all the time only spoiling them. No wonder the world is raising spoiled kids with people like you around.

And NUCLEAR WASTE? Come now where'd you come up with that?

I think China should keep it's citizens from using the internet to cyber attack others. Use a Great FireWall to keep them in instead of other sites out.

Maybe it's time to put the UN in there to keep the peace. yeah right.... ask them to do anything worthy these days is like asking a rock to fetch you a beer.

[A more believable answer is 'They are incarcerated because [Name of Charge].

The problem is, in the vast majority of cases, there is no charge.

Which circles back to the question - Then what are they being detained for?]

Maybe for engaging in armed conflict with US troops on the battlefield. Or is that not a crime? POWs don't need individual trials.

smithinjapan [Apologies can go a long way towards healing, and if more people made them to help people move on then we could live in a slightly better world. Again, good on people like Rudd and the British government for not letting pride and refusal get in the way of trying to make amends. My only hope is that such apologies don't pave the way for a lot of litigation.]

Too bad you don't sing this song when talking about a certain country you live in apologizing to your wife's country. It's been done long before you were old enough to suck your thumb Richard. Or is it just not sincere enough for you because it's Japan? Do you feel better that Britain has apologized for you and accusing you of being cretins? Or maybe they just aren't sincere enough?

Muslims are great people. They'd never hurt anyone you pay millions of dollars for. Even they are addicted to the US currency and economy.

I'd say Britain has a lot of apologizing to do around the world. Not only for these child laborers. Britain was an evil country and these child laborers despite the abuse should thank their lucky stars that they were sent out of it.

[i also would love to see how the Arab and the muslim world will help to push the issue.]

They only support when it's violence. It's the Arab way. And the modern muslim way.

[seeking to enlist help in tackling urgent global problems while weighing when and how—or if—he should raise traditional human rights concerns.]

Screw the human rights concerns. Get on with the problems. As long as their human rights don't affect yours Obama all is cool. Will we see the posters that will call for him to go challenge them on human rights while at the same time tell the US not to meddle in others affairs? The academics at work again in their offices. I can't wait to hear them.

Obama could fix this low morale thing and rotate people out if he would only have a draft. But he is too politically correct for that. The defenders of America would have a fit if they actually had to put on a uniform and do it for real.

And both guilty as charged. What's your point? You have evidence they are innocent?

I agree with hworta and Sarge. Funny how morale went down this year. It's the flip flop of a Democrat who can't make up his mind if he's going to tow the Bush line or try to keep his loyal followers happy. It takes time to think of a happy medium.
