I haven't seen the movie but I don't think that anybody has a right from stopping me. Why don't they go out and protest against child pornography?

I can't warm up to celebrity politicians. I doubt that their qualifications as decision makers match their fame as actors or what not.

I think the fun of the trip is well worth ignoring any slips in syntax or methods to produce alcohol. Nice article. I'm going to try to do this.

Iran allows IAEA inspections of all its facilities.

Uh, no. The IAEA has regularly stated that Iran does not allow site inspections as are necessary and can not explain the traces of highly enriched uranium found at some facilities.

Iran also has a habit (like NK) of engaging in diatribe about attacking neighbors. Not a good sign. NK and Iran are dictatorships that persecute their own people. Another bad sign. The world has seen this type of thing before and is justified in its concern that neither can be trusted.

The Israel issue is a red herring to divert attention. Israel probably has nukes but it not touting them as a way to intimidate their neighbors. The comparisons are weak.

Obama has tried to engage both NK and Iran in constructive talks. The response has consistantly been a stick in the eye. Perhaps Obama lacked experience early on. But he seems to be coming up the learning curve on Iran and NK rather quickly. Dictatorships should not be trusted.

I don't see this as a hate campaign. I see it as payback. You know what they say about payback.

Or, to use a phrase the priests might be more familiar with, "you shall reap as you sow." It's time the pedophile ring was broken up. The church needs more priests and fewer perverts. The only way to do that is to end the celebacy requirement. Does Benedict have the guts or will the priests continue to protect their brother pervs? Time will tell.

Dunno, I think Obama is probably close to right on this. Not much of a cold war left, getting rid of a lot of the weapons that aren't deployed reduces the threat. No point being reactionary about it. Besides, bio weapons would be a bigger threat to the chinese because of population density. I don't see how any of this means they are going after Iran either. That's rather strange too.

Why did Bush give his blessing to Karzai in the first place?

Why did Bush do anything? Bad advice maybe? And why would you expect a government of thugs to succeed?

If Karzai joined the Talibs I expect he would last a week - or until he was no longer useful to them.

Hanami is a good way to get out after a long winter and have a big social gathering. No problems there. Happens the world over. In Japan it just centers around sakura and everybody does the same thing.

I'm so sick of hearing media outlets using celibacy...

So what is the reason for these rapes of children, etc if it's not the celibacy and other restrictions by the church?

It's not that celebacy causes the buggery. The celebacy requirement (SS3 is right about it being based on Paul's exhortation to dedicate yourself to the church and not be distracted by family) makes a lot of people decide to not be priests because they can't follow their normal drives to have sex and procreate. My brother-in-law was a priest. Then he got married and became an Episcopal.

What the celebacy requrement does is concentrate men who have deviant sexual urges. It's rather ironic that these guys stand for things that the catholics consider mortal sins. Like the priest who was also an open member of the "man boy love association." Yeah, how's that working for you?

So the vatican has three reasons why it's not liable for abuse? Then, to me, those are three reasons why I'll never set foot in a catholic church again. I'd rather burn in hell than see my kids abused.

Hato-chan and Kim Jong Ill with pistols at 10 paces. Make sure the pipsqueak's pistol is missing it's firing pin. If lil Kim goes down no bases are necessary.

I doubt NK will claim credit in any case, even to their own public - they have enough on their plate (or maybe too little) to stir the pot with something like this.

Need to? No. Is it prudent? Yeah. Reality sucks, doesn't it. But it would be reasonable to see Japan pay for the lot or get their own.

The idea that the US sank the SK ship in a staged incident as a pretext to attack NK is just foolish. But I'm sure the pipsqueak will start talking it up as a pretext for putting the NK army on high alert. Going to be an interesting weekend.

The army of NK is probably a paper tiger that can't sustain operations for long unless the Chinese were helping. The dear little pipsqueak has run out of brandy and wants to look tough. Time to issue another vapid threat.

Why would you subsidize viagara for anybody? Because Bob Dole said so?

Why tax tanning salons but not cosmetic surgery? Because the surgeons had the better lobbists?

Why are the congresscritters exempt from the legislation they have just enacted for everybody else?

Hey, the whole thing is a farce. I wish Benny Hill was alive to parody it. He'd have enough material for a year.

Israel was "created" in 1947 by a UN resolution so there's not much renegade about it. The immediate and reoccuring attacks by the Arab states, which obviously didn't care a whit for UN resolutions back then, resulted in resounding defeats and the conquest of new territory by Israel.

If Isreal wants to give up territory for peace agreements all well and good. It would appear that they aren't planning on any more concessions though. With the experience of Hamas taking over Gaza it's not hard to see why. Sucks to be a Palistinian but, on the other hand, I don't see the Saudis or other petrodollar rich companies sending serious humanitarian aid. All they are willing to send is more weapons. There's a message there.

This will be short and "sweet."

"You are accused of industrial espionage"

"We were trying to negotiate a better price while you were trying to set up a buyer's consortium that would only buy at a very low price."

"China needs to destroy the economies of it's enemies to remain ascendent! Guilty as charged! Austraila, start groveling so we don't shoot them."
