If the Muslims in general want to be seen as respectable citizens they need to stop the radicals from stealing their religion. Of course there's that small problem of the Koran saying all the violent things one should do to the infidel. Not sure how they're going to fix that one.

It's a nice looking photo. The composition is good. It's not meant to be "art for sale" quality although with a few tweaks in Photoshop it probably could be. What are you complaining about? It's a nice pic and it is pleasing to look at.

Refused to step down but handed power to the VP. Is there a difference? Maybe he gets a pension this way?

The Russians are being unnecessarily provocative, IMHO. The Japanese aren't going to attack. Get real.

The Japanese whisky is good but I'll agree with Cleo on her choice of tipple.

Very sad, and very strange. I expect the medical examiner will be busy with this one.

Really a very sad and needless incident. My sister works with an adoption group in LA, they probably could have done a lot to help. I doubt that the company did a lot to find the dogs new homes despite their protests that they tried. Pathetic.

My son is restoring a '78 CB400A right now. Nice beginner bike. Good chrome, polishing right up. The 250 is nice for in town but the guys on the 600s around Hakone are a hoot to watch. Too fast for me! But then again, some of them do apply for Darwin awards. Saw one guy sideswipe a bus once. Not pretty.

If he wants to confess to murder then go ahead. Just as long as he doesn't get a single yen of compensation.

Don't show up is good, especially if you're the groom. Being the groom is one sure way to make a fool of yourself. You just don't know it until later.

Reminds me of an old "Bloom County" comic where Opus the Penguin is dashing about trying to decide which diet to use. The advice Milo give is "eat less, and exercise." That's the truth and it's all you need. The diet industry is a rip off.

There is no guarantee that radical theocracies will be the result of open elections. I would think that a democracy, even if a partial theocracy, would be better than a totalitarian regime. The Egyptians have a right to give it a chance. It's their country. Who are we to complain?

The EU is wimping out again. SK and Malaysia did what was necessary and did a good job of it. The French and US have done the same. Why the rest are lying down is beyond me.
As far as strikes against the pirates are concerned, I'm not sure how to deal with them. Perhaps more aggressive policing of boats leaving the Somali coast would slow the pirates down?

TheQuestion has nailed it. My insurance costs have gone up by 9%, the "copayments" have gone up by 25%, the amount I pay for perscriptions has gone up, and the paperwork and bureauracy have increased as I now have forms to fill out and the doctor to defend the use of some medications for asthma. I will have to switch dentists and opthamologists as my current doctors are no longer "in plan." So, for a working engineer such as myself and my family, this health care plan has turned into a costly and frustrating exercise. Just remember the three great lies: the check is in the mail, I'll respect you in the morning, and WE'RE FROM THE GOVERNMENT, WE'RE HERE TO HELP!
At least I stil have my Ebina hospital card....
