Things won't be better with the same bureaucratic system and the same public. The pole survey for the prime minister will drop and there will be complaints to hammer him down. There will be a change for the prime minister, while the rest of the world takes different ways.

The issue of East China Sea islands is one explicit topic to attract people's attention. The people here often mention this and they are saying badly against the Chinese and stuff. This directly associates the coming election. The problem is neither LDP nor the currently dominant political party is capable of handling this type of issue. Both the politicians and citizens do not have long term perspectives even if many of them have high IQ. This is a cultural thing and the same was true with how they were during the WW2. They were lacking in strategies.

the system is coming to not workiing every year. it's getting worse. i observe it each year and think of japan and japanese getting worse. i took this exam in 1989, when there was no such thing as the internet or cell phones. nobody around me was using even word processor.
but we are in the globalized economy. the world has changed so much. they no longer are able to adapt to this system. - not just the system but the people's perception hasn't changed. look at them on the train or something when they are hitting books on english or some other stuffs. it's pathetic. their highest priority is set to nothing but english. gosh, it kills me. a lot more kids cheat the exam than kids 10 or 20 years back. exams are good, and so is this one. but the problem is the perception they have had on that, which has been just the same as decades ago. - now the world has changed, and the people has changed also. they are more likely to cheat on exams nowadays. meanwhile, they are still passive to learn things, which is a big side effect they have faced. they are so afraid to change.
there is a huge gap between the system and the people who are concerned with it. - and the gap is just getting even bigger each year i observe it. - but still, they are smart fellows, they are better than me. many call me i am idiot or something, and treat me that way.

one of my old friends in college did a similar thing. he was cheating exams holding very small pieces of paper with notes written on them busily. he finally got caught on the spot by a professor, but he ate them all. he was saying "you can eat 7 pieces at a time. trust me. i did that." nowhere is more secure to keep a thing at than inside your body.

I have heard of the same thing that happened a long time ago in Japan. The victim must have got a huge affection and hatred and all. - It's an extreme case of a love affair.

Almost all of them wouldn't use this non-emergency number (9110). They want to be put in the first priority no matter how silly thing it is.

I have heard about a house wife calling 110 because she had a big argument with her husband. People can call 110 easily also when they want someone to speak with, or just want to have fun hanging up as soon as the phone is taken.
Look at those customers at Japanese stores or service companies. They are very rude and selfish, while the store clerks are always humiliated and self-denial. That has spoiled the people to be selfish and ignorant 2 year old kids.
This can happen to all generations. The middle-aged people or older are selfish. Stupid teenagers or 20 yr olds might be one charm, but stupid middled-aged or elderly will never be called that way.

useless. if reshuffle would work, the japanese government would have already been changed. it is bureaucrats that needs reshuffling. ministers are nothing more than puppets.

I have heard the same statement not just once from the Kanagawa police department. They have said the same thing and nothing has changed. I am at a loss for words. It's disappointing.

Hope other politicians and governmental officials will cooperate with him. They haven't been together all the time. Japanese citizens, too. (I know it's very difficult for them to perform because they don't think and behave with principles but with feelings.)

Leaving minor aged kids alone at home is pretty common in Japan. They don't think it's bad. They most likely make excuses saying "It is a good think kids stay by themselves at home, so they'll learn to be independent." - They would say it's a culture here, so get out of here.
If that's a culture here, then they must bring back other cultural stuff, such as neighbors take care of the kids in the vicinity, etc. But I know they would never want to do that. They will start saying, "It's a violation of privacy."
They have picked only what they like out of western culture. They haven't really got anything right.

Japanese common sense (majority of their opinions) will go this way:
"Don't stir up the problem, man. Who cares those dead guys? I don't even care for the war crimminals of some generations ago. You are disturbing the harmony ("wa"). You are anti-social, you keep on saying that sh*t. Just leave it. Even if you don't like that shrine, some others like that. Don't disrespect what others respect. Don't think you are always saying a right thing. Everybody has a different perception on that. You should stop being narrow-minded."
What would you say to this?

I often think this will no longer be changed, it's a culture here.
I personally have an experience, 3 yrs ago or so in Saitama, there was a guy on a bike hit my daughter (she was 9 at that time) from her back when we were crossing a street. The traffic light was green and we were walking straight. The middled-aged guy with suits on ran away without looking back.
This tragedy reported here is only a part of it. They wouldn't be honest about many things. There are so many reckless people on a car, bike, as well as on foot.
The problem is each of them think they should be the first priority and they don't wait or let others go. And they seem to be rejecting any communication with others. Without this mind set being removed, this type of sad incident will be repeated many times.
