Well, now that he has a broken face he can sit in the priority seat without fear of reprisal. Perhaps this was her way of giving the guy a free pass to priority seats for while to come. Nice to see there is some spark left in some old folks.

It not used by Japanese as a derogatory word at all. It may sound derogatory since non Japanese simply take the literal English meaning of "half" and perceive it and directly translate it the way "half" is used in the English language. Its just another butchered English based word compacted and used by Japanese to describe a person of mixed heritage. If anything, it seems to be used in complimentary form.

Its fantastic. If you have the hardware (Large 1080p TV/projector,AV AMP, 7.1 channel system etc) there is no going back to DVD. I buy and rent Blurays exclusivly. DVD is history.

if it was a foreign language how did einstein know it was a demand for money ?
Good point... so even though he was holding a knife in a threatening manner you think he might have been saying "HEY! IT SURE IS COLD OUTSIDE, YEAH?!?"..... or maybe he was shouting "HEY, SOMEONE SUPERGLUED THIS KNIFE TO MY HAND, CAN YOU HELP ME?!?".... Would be interesting to see how you would have coped in this situation...

This guy may or may not have some valid points but he really needs to get someone to help him with his attire. Maybe I've been here too long but its difficult to take someone seriosly when dressed like a bum, especially in this country.

I would have given them $3.3m in fake Zimababwe dollars and airbombed their getaway boat.
While I love your air-bombing plan, why fake dollars? It would be cheaper to use the real currency. An egg is worth about $50Billion (Zimbabwe Dollars) in that currency.

Anyone actually saw the video footage of this event? You know, if you stare at this photo for a while you could almost swear that Obama is taking his time in this position and seems to really be bowing for a long period of time... because....its..... a.... P-H-O-T-O.
If you saw the TV broadcast you would have seen that he shock hands and gave a split second bow to go with it. Nothing as dramatic as this image may portray.

I heard on the news that the Ferry Company is also a potential candidate for receiving the payout. I hope it doesn't turn out that way though, 10M to a company isn't such a big deal but to the guy working there it would change his life quite a bit.

Unlike previous MS OS's win7 has been out in public beta for sometime prior to release... a lot more stable then previous OS releases which didnt get the same amount of public testing win7 has already gone through. I've been using the Beta since March and its been solid throughout.

Ah all the comments were a nice read.
About re-election, I remember reading somewhere that he has no intention of running for another term after his current term ends in 2011. So hopefully he'll either resign before this or worst case he'll be phased out along with analogue broadcasting in 2011. Either way its good that he'll just be remembered for his failings as governor. Even with the Olympics in Rio it won't make much difference to the viewers watching it from home in Japan... Japanese media like to zoom in and stay focused on the Japanese athletes exclusively so its easy to forget that its an international event anyway. It might even be worth creating a Japan Olympics with only home grown competitors taking part, more gold medals will be won this way and no complaints from all the foreign fearing locals.
Congratulations Rio!

What is all this talk about "glancing over the shoulder" to confirm for oncoming vehicles? Yes Japan has many roads where no dedicated sidewalk are available... in this case you walk right along the edge... not in the middle of the road! A visually impaired or blind pedestrian would do the same. Its up to the driver to drive with caution and appropriate speed when sharing a road with pedestrians. If blind pedestrians are having to rely on engine sound in order not to get sideswiped then they are already playing a dangerous game and should either change the route they walk or find some other way to get from A to B.

Why not just have the cars emit a foul (environmentally friendly) odor? The blind can smell their way clear with no additional noise pollution. But seriously I don't get this "problem"... when do the blind have the need to hear if a vehicle is in their vicinity? I presume they are only on the road when crossing the street... and this would be an intersection when the light is green and the signal is ticking them to cross....
