Legal loopholes are evident elsewhere...

Gambling is illegal... yet pachinko parlors are everywhere, you win junk... take the junk across the street to the affiliated store, exchange it for cash.

Prostitution is illegal... yet soap land is everywhere... "oh its not prostitution if its happens consensually"...

Loopholes can be blocked if the authorities/government are really serious about stopping them... but they are not.

Tipping is a joke... what exactly does "give great service" mean anyway? Shouldn't great service be included as a job requirement? Do they become my employee as soon as I enter the restaurant/taxi? meaning I have to subsidize their wage? Can I fire them if the service is bad?? "Give great service".... what does that really mean in the end? A fake smile and asking if everything is fine?? A dance routine on my table perhaps? of for a taxi, getting me to my destination without getting involved in accident?? Tipping/Begging... same thing. Sorry for the rant... I hate the idea of tipping - with a passion.

Rocky shores are extremely dangerous; slippery surface, deep water, strong currents and sharp rocky edges...even a competent swimmer can easily get in trouble there. Seasoned fishermen often get killed fishing off rocks every year... the kids shouldn't have been there, neither the mother. May the brave mother RIP - at least her son is safe.

Doesn't look as good as the original PS3 though... I'll stick to my BIG PS3 - I still play a lot of PS2 games which the slim doesn't support.

Crimsonsil, craigslist is not bad either for secondhand PS3 software/hardware.

Got to love the police theory that this one guy is responsible for ALL the unsolved bag snatching cases in Tokyo and Kanagawa.... nice way to close off 120 unsolved cases. I'm sure they'll get a confession out of him one way or another.

spudman - This is Japan and we are talking about a public school.... been to your local yakusho lately? Notice all the tables and chairs no matter which yakusho you visit?... Its like stepping into a time machine to the 1950's.... notice that even in the last few years there are report of asbestos in buildings?

Yet another reason to keep your kids out of the public education system. Yawning has many causes: tiredness, stress, overwork, lack of stimulation, boredom. The teacher is a jerk whether or not the kid deserve it or not is irrelevant. Chalk also contains talc, a known carcinogenic agent... so lets hope the kid doesn't develop cancer in a few years thanks to this teachers abuse.

The Tokyo District Court is scheduled to hold a session on June 22 to decide proceedings for his trial.

A full year after the event???? And and trail has yet to start? Whats taking so long?

If I was a relative of one of the victims I don't know whether I'd be angrier at the perpetrator or the court system...

Unrelated but a good example of the pace of Japanese justice, 14 Years after the Tokyo subway Sarin gassing Shoko Asahara is still on death row....

Wow that thing is ugly, probably with performance to boot. "A regular home socket"?? So how are people who live in apartments or homes without a car park right beside the house going to charge this thing?.... and how much Wattage is consumed during the 7 hour charge time??? Ahh I don't want to know...I'll take a fuel guzzling GTR over this any day.

Lucky for everyone onboard there was someone with enough guts to raise it to the crew. By the looks of that photo at least half the passengers sitting on the left side, behind the wing should have easily seen that... no surprises that all kept quiet while thinking "hen dane?" or simply didn't want to raise a commotion... cheers to Mr. Bachleda. The rate of fuel loss probably allowed them to make an emergency landing in Hawaii anyway... glad that everyone is safe.

pawatan - Thats exactly right. Actually I used my knowledge of kakaku prices and mentioned that I saw the top 10 lowest prices floating between 315000 - 320000 which was true last month. The bic sales guy said he would try and match it... he went away did the math and came back with a price lower (only slightly) than the lowest kakaku price range I mentioned. I don't usually bargain either I just casually mentioned the lower kakaku price and the sales guy went into overdrive. I was luck too, went to many stores and they were sold out... I managed to get the last one in stock ;) at that store.

This is also the same clown who said "A friend of a friend is a member of Al-Qaeda". He is also partly responsible for why all foreigners are treated like criminals and fingerprinted on entry to Japan.
