This is so atypical of American administration; in trying to solve one problem, creates another. Now they probably have to pool in more time and resources to debate whether or not to give future bailout (hence slowing down the stimulus plan and recovery process from recession) and whether of not AIG bonuses handout is essential to prevent talent drain.
First off, we are in a recession; everywhere is taking cost-cutting measures, mid-management layoff and HIRE FREEZE (so AIG's concern for talent drain is the least of worries). So AIG’s stance, if there is any, stands on thin ice and my take is the bonus is to justify the top folks’ asses to maintain their current lavish lifestyles.
Second, good intentions of Obama’s administration can be taken for granted by the bureaucratic MNCs whose ultimate aim is profit making viz-a-viz government concern to maintain low unemployment rate during this period.
So, will it be an American Dream or American Greed when taxpayers’ money is involved? God bless America and its spirit of capitalism.

Obama says crisis is time of 'great opportunity' as a headline needs correction.
Actually it is his chief of staff who said:"You should never waste a crisis."
prior ...Obama saying "to discover great opportunity in the midst of great crisis.”
Nonetheless, inspiring. Fortune favors the bold.

And after the incident in US military-run detention camp at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, it is hard to listen to any American human rights preaching coming out of America. So Obama did the sensible act of closing it down, and Clinton is doing the next sensible act of raising the human rights issue in China, at the right time. All in all, Americans have destroyed their own bargaining chip in the form of human rights, with their own American people disregarding human rights of non-Americans, at Guantanamo Bay.

And after the incident in US military-run detention camp at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, we (the Outsiders of America) find it hard to listen to any American news, or human rights preaching coming out of America. Smart move in closing the iconic Gitmo, as for now the outsiders have to take note again and not mistake America as a veil of hyprocrisy under the notion of all men being equal.

Don't expect workers' corporate loyalty when they are relegated to figures that are required to be retrenched during crunch time. Don't expect stayers in the coming markets and expect more job hoppers in the coming new economy. Anticipate a hyper fluid, flexible and cruel job market with everyone for oneself.
Posted in: The dark side of the change in the labor market is becoming pretty clear. The safety net has always been weak because the idea was that companies would take care of their workers. That’s no longer happening.

When beauty is objectified, it can becomes a commodity. And when beauty is imposed on a kid by an adult, it is a breach of autonomy. But who am i, living and floating in a superficial world consumed and monopolized by the definition of beauty, by the ethnocentric west, the fashion supermodels or celebrities wannabes?

Imagine what might happen Japan's relative poverty rate, if Aso listens to Singapore Minister Mentor's advice to open up its immigrants/permanent residency/citizenship policy to foreigners.
Posted in: Japan's relative poverty rate is one of the highest among the OECD nations. The reason is that our taxation and social security systems are so feeble, making it impossible to rectify female poverty or the income gap between men and women.

I think we are dealing with 2 different types of crisis here. One is Financial Crisis and the other is Economic Crisis, and these two shouldn't be mixed up in terms of solutions proposal(s). I think there ought to be a collaboration of research writings by economic analyst and reporters to clarify to the laymen in terms of news reporting.

Personally, i think Sean and Roger set a high bar for their time as 007. Brosnan tried to relived Sean and Roger level but failed. However, Craig did a good job for the portrayal of modern adaptation of James Bond. But my money is on Matt as "James" "Bourne". After all, one US$1 invested on Matt reaps you a return of US$28. ROI overwrites 007. My 2 cents worth.
