Utter waste of life. Maybe she worked there because she needed money to get through University. So sad that she had to please old men to get an education.
"Investigating the possibility of..."???? There's ZERO to investigate. It obviously WAS a stalker. Well done Keystones. Go out and nab the scum.

$2 billion? Try $2 trillion. The amount spent in Iraq could have easily been spent on healthcare for everyone, or solved all the world's clean water ills.
Bush, Cheney and his ilk deserves to be tried for Class-A war crimes.
These suicide bombs are going to be going off for as long as America stays there.
Well said.
Moderator: Readers, please keep your comments focused on the story and what is currently happening in Iraq, not what life was like under Saddam.

'detaining suspects'!
Yeah, I'm sure he was actually doing some good, but the article does have humourous overtones!

I eat meat, but whales are a different matter. They are such beautiful, majestic, intelligent, magical creatures; far more intelligent than the meatheads who go out 'researching' them.
20 years of 'research'.... what are they 'researching' exactly? This wouldn't be Japan refusing to admit to something again, would it?

My initial thoughts, too. However, at 14, if a supposed figure in authority tells you something, you're inclined to believe it. Maybe she thought he was looking for any potential breaking and entering possibilties from suspected flasher. WHo knows what she was thinking. ANd would a 14 y/o Japanese girl really tell a 'police officer' to GTFO?
And to think that there was only a 13 and 14 y/o there at the time, too...
Urgh. Throw the book at this disgusting perv, twice.

Like many j-guys, I expect they thought they were funny, but actually weren't. Either way, they're just letting of steam, having abit of fun. Slap on the wrist, and move on. Nothing to see here (no pun intended)
Far more serious crimes out there to be dealt with, like unregistered bicycles.

In English "like" used after every other word.
In Japanese, quite a big list, but "gomen" and "sumimasen" because the person saying it hardly ever means it.... but at the top would have to be "sa \ さ" after every, single, freakin', word! Drives me MAD!!!!!!!!
Today SA I SA went SA to SA Tokyo SA because SA I SA wanted SA to have SA fun SA then SA...... etc.

As far as I can tell, they're both as bad as each other.
He sounds like a douche, who cheated on his wife and divorced in the US on 'home soil', but she's an idiot for taking them back to Japan without permission.
If I had to choose the stupid(er) of the two, it's the guy. Snatching his kids in broad daylight is idiocy in itself, but someone with his experience of Japan and its lack of Hague Convention should've known better. And his new wife seems like an attention wh!re / self-pitying moron. She acts like the kids are hers.
I hope the kids aren't treated any worse than they already have been.
