What happens if the parent gets dementia or Alzheimer's and they become childlike again, would they consider okay for their children to spank or hit them to remind them what is right or wrong?

My parents never beat me, I turned out OK. I never beat my kids and they turned out just fine, thank you. Very fine indeed, in fact.
