The one thing -- and I do mean the ONE thing good about this group "Perfume" -- is the stems on these gals. It allows me to tolerate the 100%-autotuned-vocals.

If he is apologizing, and now forgoing pay, this suggests he takes personal responsibility for the disaster. Wrong message. If that is the case, why stop with forgoing pay? Might as well resign.

As I see it, the problem is that this Savoie dude could have just as easily been a Gandhi or an MLK, and the result would still be the same. He will never see his kids again. There are plenty of good guys/fathers out there that will never see justice, much less their children. Let this man not distract us from the issues here with the disaster that is Japan's child custody laws.

FYI, to everyone claiming he was a bad person, had affairs, etc... Tennessee has no-fault divorce laws, meaning all that is irrelevant. She took the kids, she pays. end of story.

Always nice to see a scantily clad lady for the pic of the day, but I agree with Smorkian here... Definitely the expected Japanese answer to Lady Gaga, (who has an even better body), confirmed by checking out a couple videos of hers.

While some US judgments are enforced in Japan, from what I've read Japan in general has a public policy against punitive damages and has refused to enforce judgments where the punies outweigh the actual damages. My guess is that the 6.1 million includes punitive damages, and will probably not be recognized by a court of law here, much less collectible.

WilliB, I suppose you are repeating what you read/heard from Orly Taitz. And yes, I sincerely hope that is the exact argument the GOP uses. Talk about suicide! Even if there were some merit there, do you really expect the argument to gain any traction at all when it requires the use of those outdated and currently-offensive terms? I don't think any self-respecting GOP person with any hopes at all for a political future would touch that argument with a 10-foot pole, but I could be wrong. Of course to answer your question it would require looking at other birth certificates from the area, and specifically those of kids born to African nationals.

It is believed that Kinoshita plans to continue to update a weblog that is accessible only to paying fan club members

Has this broad ever heard of Twitter? This not being 1996, I find it hard to believe anyone would pay for a blog documenting the musings of anyone, particularly when people far more famous and interesting than her are tweeting away for free.

arrestpaul, are suggesting that when Obama filed all of his applications and papers with the Federal Election Commission, which apparently had no problems with his eligibility, that there was some massive conspiracy between Obama, the FEC, the Hawaiian government, all those who signed affidavits regarding his birth certificate, etc., and that Obama was staying silent in order to hide this massive conspiracy? Unlike McCain, Obama was born in a US State, not on a base in some foreign territory. McCain's issue was totally different. I was happy Obama was not willing to oblige the lunatics out there who claim he was somehow born elsewhere, or in Africa (not racist at all!). It is pretty humiliating he even has to address it like this with his birth certificate.

There are clearly racial undertones in these birther folks' refusal to accept reality. Whatever records the man produced a few years ago, already confirmed as legitimate by the State of Hawaii, were clearly enough to become THE PRESIDENT. Why can't these morons just admit that a black guy became president and get over it?!

I tend to agree with those who don't believe TEPCO should be liable for negligence. Negligence is a legal concept, basically requiring one to act as a reasonably prudent person would do in similar circumstances. This does not mean they must take all precautions to avoid any accidents whatsoever. Granted, this is a nuclear power plant so a high degree of care is warranted. But did they do anything different than such plant operators do around the globe? This is a 40+ year old plant, without any serious accidents despite Japan being a quake-prone country, until the unprecedented 9.0 quake and tsunami. Perhaps they ignored warnings, but the question is whether their actions were in line with a reasonable person (or plant operator) -- not a perfect one, but a reasonable one -- in like circumstances. This will be for industry experts to fight out, not a bunch of farmers or internet posters.

Takigawa told the audience how she gleaned so much information from simply visiting the city’s markets and restaurants

Yeah, unfortunately any diary-keeping 13 year old girl who has ever visited Paris has probably written the exact same things.

Am I the only one to feel no sympathy at all for these so-called "Hikikomori"? Where I come from we have a word for these people: LOSERS. They are able to go shopping for Ramen and cigarettes, and of course are manipulative and/or smart enough to keep that internet bill paid each month. Too much energy and money is being wasted on these people. If they want to stay cooped up in some wretched room all their life, so be it. Spend the resources on those who actually want and need the help.
