I support the ban on climbing Uluru, just as I would support a ban on climbing other places of spiritual significance: churches, mosques, synagogues, etc. It's called respect.

Nah, didn't think so. This site is far too blokey for that.

No, sorry, I don't know it. Just as you don't know it. And no one is going to test the thesis in a clear non-political way, so I guess it's moot.
But I take your point about the politics in Okinawa. But politics, meaning democracy, in this country is…

But isn't that just the point? So little information has been released, particularly to non-Japanese, and in languages other than Japanese, that's it's not surprising that there are many questions.

As the sun sets on the US empire, and as Asian countries find their own feet, and their own voice, I wonder if your eloquent sentiments will be so strident in the years to come.
Seems to me that you haven't always got your way, in this part of…

I cycle because I live in a coastal city, with next to no public transport. It's actually a lot safer than back home, where I also cycled; because so many more drivers here also have cycling experience, and therefore tend to leave a bit of space for me, and because…

Actually, until very recently, Australia also required tourists from China to be part of an organised travel group with guide.
It's because the Aust. Immigration Dept regard Chinese as high risk of overstaying their visas, based on experience with other Chinese visitors; for example, students.
