The private health care system claims another victim. Kind of joking but you know if this was a public hospital what the comments would be like.

Mr Hankey the Christmas Poo. Sure, he doesn't exist, but he'd still do a better job.

Was about to say the same thing, goingtoshopping. When Mr Mori starts critisizing you, it's time to go.
The problem seems to be that you have to be related to a minister in order to be a minister. That leaves a pretty small group of people to choose from and you're going to get a lot of complete tools in high positions.

Completely the opposite to that other article on how to win at Pachinko.
There does seem to be a certain fatalism in Japan. People seem to believe in the concepts of luck/gods etc more than trusting themselves and their own abilities.
That said, most people I've ever played poker against have been the hopeful kind who think Ace and anything else is an all-in hand.

which has cleared the domestic ratings of an ethics watchdog body,” he said.
Is "ethics" the right word here? Isn't this about "morality"? And how can a rape game be deemed to be ethical? Who is this mysterious "watchdog body" and have they EVER banned a game?

Pretty good game but the Aussie tactics were a bit too defensive. Japan really should have won, they had a few good chances. Hopefully Australia can lift a bit for their remaining games (and then win the World Cup).

I believe it is by far the worst ever, dennis. Tasmania had about 70 people killed in 1967 and a similar number were killed in 1983.
I still believe it's best to stay with your home. Fire can spread incredibly quickly, faster than a car and also, going from the country to the city can take the best part of a day.

I think it's a good pragmatic move for the following reason:
Japan wants to hunt whales cheifly because the rest of the world doesn't want them to and they don't want to be seen to back down. Nationalists eat whale for this reason too. But if Japan was allowed to hunt whales it would remove the nationalism from the equation and the practise would gradually did out.
Thoughts?

It might be 45 degrees but at least it's not humid. It's actually really nice to just bake for a while but Japan's 30 degree summers and humidity is too much for me.

Excellent news. I love it when complete douchebags lose what is most precious to them, in this case, job, wife, respect and probably, girlfriend. Thanks JT! More ghoulishness please!

Unfortunately, Wakarimasen, most male gaijins are just what you say they are: visitors. Few are interested in staying long term and many will get married, have kids and then take both wife and children back to their own countries. Resulting in a net loss.
On the other hand, women from poor countries seem to marry Japanese men and integrate easily into society.

I think the first lesson that needs to be learned is that the opposite of communism is not democracy. You hear that parroted all the time and it's hilarious to anyone with more than half a brain.
And secondly, there are different types of communism/socialism just like Switzerland and the US are different types of capitalism. JCP are no Maoists, for example.

'Heaps' of data? I think they've proved that there are a few thousand less whales than there were before they harpooned them but other than that, nothing useful at all. Perhaps you could give us a single example. davidattokyo?

I think GM etc going bankrupt will hurt Toyota and the others in the short term but long term they'll be laughing all the way to the bank. No US car companies = profits, profits, profits!

I think whether it's 'sick' or not depends on how it was presented, not the material itself. What's really worrying is that so many people want euthanasia to be a right and the government keeps ignoring them. Not even a referendum.

Yes, Obama will spend a lot of money but that's standard economics when times are tough. You stimulate the economy and employment. Bush was President in excellent economic times but instead of saving for winter he spent massively and now the US is about to lose its AAA credit rating.
