Did you read the article? A group of companies voluntarily agreed to abide by a certain code. Enough said.
But if the National Communist Party of Crazy Lefty Maoists implemented the same policy, I would support that too. Anything's better than being a nation of fatties.

It's a cult that exists merely to make money and should be treated as such. I'm sure it would be if it didn't have so many members.

Absolutely, it's over. Some bookmakers are already paying out. Obama needs to win Florida or Ohio or just a couple of many of the smaller states and he's there. Deal is well and truly closed.

Green Island sucks. It's just had too many tourists and all the coral is dead. Just so you never go there.

McCain clearly best in a crisis. Unless it involves email.

I think the problem here is the lack of socialised medicine. It is not extended to pregnancy because it is not a disease. I love Japanese logic.
The half million yen baby bonus usually covers the hospital costs but there's always the temptation to take the bonus and run.

I feel sorry for the gays in California because, not only might their marriages be annulled by the Federal Government, but a lot of them are being forced into getting married now, as opposed to some time in the future, as the option to marry may not exist in the future.

Myth 4: "Sadly, in Japan this is true..."
Not really much of a myth then, is it?

And that's a great video, Patrick Smash. Note how he chases people away with his nudity INCLUDING police officers.

Hilarious. I reckon the guy should get a prize. Still can't believe the police took two hours to catch him but after all he was 'beating the water in a threatening manner' according to my local rag.

Electric 2004, excellent point, names do lead to bullying. But the lyrics to Bobby Brown? Not sure how they apply here unless you mean the surname 'Brown'.
People aren't all bad but it's mob mentality. One person being a tool can sway the entire group into acting the same.

I think John Irving is a great US writer and there are a few others, E. Annie Proulx comes to mind but overall, America hits below its weight in literature.
And, yes, the US produces a lot of best-sellers but we're talking literature here. Steven King is not literature.

I think it would actually kill the game in Japan. Japanese people seem to believe that Japan is actually quite good at rugby but that's because they never play against anyone decent. Seeing Japan totally humiliated would not help the sport here.

I've been a lot less interested in sumo recently. It's a dirty sport and needs to be cleaned up.

Yep, Hakuho has it in the bag. He would have to lose a match plus Ama/Kotomitsuki win all three of their remaining matches and that's just to reach a play-off. Good to see Japanese wrestlers still can't win a tourney.

Some good advice in this article, thanks. Dunno why anyone becomes a taxi driver. In Gunma, where I live, gardeners get 20 000 yen a day for trimming and pruning. Not much skill is required and they work for about 7 hours a day with a few breaks. Choose your profession wisely and don't be afraid to change.

Yeah, it's a good idea because nobody goes to Disneyland by themselves so each person is going to bring a paying customer with them. A good time to be a twin.

Being a Republican is not going to damage his standing and may not even be relevant at all. Unless there's a referendum called, it's not really important where he stands on that issue.
He's maybe slightly better than Brendan Nelson but the fact that he's one of Australia's richest men will damage his credibility. If there's one thing Aussie's hate it's a tall poppy.

There's a pattern. It goes boom, bust, boom, bust, boom etc but nobody ever thinks it will go to the next stage until it does.
