Hasn't the US installed enough puppet dictators recently? I bet this one will turn on them just like Saddam.

Thanks realist. I was going to trust the word of a majority of the world's scientists but your highly informed comments changed my mind. Thanks again!

If you research Japanese whaling you'll find that it is only a tradition in a few villages. And of course they never used advanced technology that exists today or hunted in the Antarctic.
Also, there was no idea of "Japaneseness" before Meiji so claiming whaling is a Japanese tradition is flawed.
But frankly, the best way to stop Japanese people from eating whale would be if every stopped trying to stop them. Remove the nationalism and presto!

Australia just aren't as good as they were. 15 years ago, those were good times. At least we can still play cricket...

Sarge, by offering higher quality treatment (duh!). Public hospitals offer free basic treatment but if you want to jump the queue or see a doctor with lots of letters after his name, pay extra and go private.
Tens of millions of people will have the right to free health care. If Bush did this, you would be applauding from the rooftops.

Yep, the media in America sucks. But it sucks everywhere and at least in the US there are enough people to make quality news viable. In Australia there's just crap - crappy newspapers and crappy TV news.

In most cases it will be clear if it was a hate crime or not. It's hard to be a racist or sexist and hide that away so any racist killing should be detectable and more severely punished.

Excellent. If songs start being sold for 10 cents I might even start spending some money instead of endlessly downloading for free. Much better than the crappy dollar songs on Itunes. I would never pay that much for a single song.

strong beliefs in Atheism are exactly the same thing as religion. EXACTLY the same? That's going to need some explaining. But I don't believe there's an invisible, massless, undetectable elephant that follows me around everywhere. But there COULD be. The point is that once you start believing in God then there's no reason not to believe a whole lot of other nonsense as well.
Scientology is clearly a cult. It exists to make money for their shady owners by preying on people with weak minds. It's far worse than any main Christian group and should be outlawed.

Is it going to be on Japanese TV? If so, what time and channel?
Agree with the photoshopping comments. The guy on the left doesn't even have a shadow.
Moderator: WOWOW will show the game live.

I don't think limited trains would work at night, at least not one every hour. If you have to catch two trains, you'd be facing a long wait for the first one and a 30 minute (on average) wait for the second. The links are always going to be a problem.

Possibly some execs will leave to find better jobs but any company thinking of hiring will first think this: if they left their companies because times were tough, why would they not jump ship a second time? Ford could poach some executives but it's unlikely for this reason and also because those execs have an established losing record.

LOL, Altria.
I personally hate the word 'outraged'. Almost nobody ever gets genuinely outraged. And instead of making people outraged, it is the outraged person who chooses to become outraged (their personality is the problem). Saying these musicians 'expressed outrage' demeans them, unless that's what they stated themselves.
Was it NIN's earlier or later work, BTW? Their recent stuff is certainly a bit torturous.

The portrayal of women on TV is not great but movies are generally worse. Every movie seems to be aimed at men, and women subtly fulfill the roles of male fantasy women. Just off the top of my head, try that movie about that guy who can teleport, starring the guy who played Anikin in the new Star Wars (sorry that's not more specific). I remember it really pissed me off when I saw it, and I'm a man.

I already love my 4 colour pen, no probs with it and only cost 280 yen. Great for English teachers (or anyone who uses a pen a lot, really). So, no thanks.

hang out and inhale paint thinners. I just can't believe anyone would be dumb enough to do this. Permanently killing parts of your brain... that's pretty sad.
