Thanks for saying swine flu instead of new flu JT.
All this talk about worst case scenarios is just idle speculation. It could be the next black plague or it could peeter out gradually. Nobody knows, it's just the media trying to scare us into watching the news and buying more stuff.
I've noticed a lot less reporting in Japan. The three biggest schools in my town, which is the 3rd biggest in the prefecture, are closed with dozens of cases each - apparently not newsworthy.

What I don't like about the whole thing is that nobody considers the possibility of guilt. It was the same with Schapelle Corby, everyone jumped to support her when obviously she was guilty, merely because she was arrested in an Asian country that doesn't have the best relations with Australia. Smells of racism to me.

I honestly have no idea if Dick Morris is being heavily sarcastic or if he really thinks Palin is intelligent. It's just hard not to laugh when people say anything even mildly positive about her. I really hope she runs for Prez, a) for comedy and b) because she can't possibly win. But seriously GOP, is Palin the best you can do? Isn't that just a little sad?

And, yeah, scrum is everyday English but only in countries that play rugby. Pretty bizarre choice of word for an American politician.

Water purifier? I just drink water straight from the tap. Tastes fine. People who pay for bottled water (and aren't millionaires) seriously need their heads examined.

the Freanch are the worst. I won't even talk to them Nice generalisation, whole races can be crammed into one stereotype. There are no exceptions. I am being heavily sarcastic.

A 600 ml plastic bottle takes 200 ml of oil to make. That's a lot of oil. Nice work, this town.
** By the way, 356 ( minus 2 ) out of 2500, now that’s not what I would call democracy.** This makes little sense. It's like saying Obama shouldn't be Prez because lots of people were too lazy to vote and he got less than half the possible votes. If you don't turn out to meetings or vote, don't whine about it, it's your choice.

If you're going to tax anyone, let it be the rich. But I think everyone is going to be richer once the cost of health care spending (currently 16% of GDP in US compared to 8% in Japan) falls. Less private spending on personal insurance, company profits will be up as they won't have to pay employees' insurance as a benefit. The government will also have more money as it gets a percentage of these incomes and profits. It's a win/win situation.

In this case I have to go with the GOP (for once). Honouring a child molester is just wrong.

Big Government: Australia has universal health care, spend 8.8% of GDP. Small Government: US has only private health care, spends 16% of GDP, millions uncovered. Conclusion: Some things are better run by the government. There's nothing wrong with 'Big Government'.

Damn, Sarge, do you have any life outside of JT? And do you think you've converted many people or just confirmed their beliefs about the weirdness of the GOP and its supporters? BTW could you state that you believe Sarah Palin would be a good President? Just for the record? Thanks.

Palin also cast herself as a victim
Why are the Republicans such a bunch of whiners? They lose an election and suddenly look more hopeless than the Democrats ever have. Read the Drudge Report. It's just whinge, whinge, whinge, nothing constructive at all. If the GOP want to be a viable opposition they need to get their act together pretty soon. Dumping Palin, a confirmed idiot, would be a good start.

It's insulting to the intelligence of soldiers so suggest they couldn't cope with gays in the army and are homophobic. The average soldier is not some redneck wife-beater from the South, a lot of soldiers have a reasonable education.

I think once you start believing in the magic invisible sky god then your sense of reality is damaged. Unfortunately, kids are taught religion at a young age. This is an extreme case but normal everyday religion is only a little less wacky.

Beerplease, nobody really cares that much. Airbuses have some accidents and Boeings have some too. I guess you've just chosen a side and will defend it to the death.
I think it's about time drinks came with a straw sticking through a hole like at McDonalds. Frigging turbulence strikes and then your groin smells of coffee for the next 16 hours. Not much fun.
