Kanji is a joke anyway. If the Prime Minister can't read the characters then Kanji learning is outmoded and a waste of good study time. If furigana is used frequently to clarify the kanji meaning then whynot replace kanji (with some clarifiers for context etc). Just another outmoded practice.
