bah, probably did him a favor. Too many people out there live in the virtual world and lose touch with the real world. I have to assume this would also be the maximum sentence one could get if they hacked into a securities bank and erased all records and transactions resulting in the bankruptcy of the company and they made no profit from doing so.

one of those articles that needs figures...

let me see how many people actually live in net cafes around Japan? Even if there were 3000 net cafes www.cafeman.jp and on average their are 10-20 cubicles? and 50% were occupied by people who life in the 24/7 that's around 30,000 people.... of those most do have a house and are just saving money while they work a full time job, some are runaways, others are probably what one calls homeless. I would have to say 80% are males vs females and the age group 18-35. If they were not living out of the shoe box most of them would be back with the parents, crashing at multiple friends places, renting an ultra cheap apartment and doubtfully living in a cardboard box under a bridge. 73% of those do have health insurance, but obviously 75% of the pregnant girls don't want to pay for the hospital bills. All in all the article means very little without more figures.

the winnings ratios are indeed regulated like Las Vegas Slot Machines and probably much more. The Japanese police department control the ratios and update it for every new generation machine. The micro controller box (black box) is strictly regulated and everything is heavily taxed. To not regulate would mean to not know how much tax should be levied. Machines can take up to 6 months for thorough testing in the police labs before they are beta tested in the country side parlors.

they have never been a discount seller except for their own special HIS tours (usually just a single page of tours). Everything else like JAL tours and one off's are more expensive than JTB.

ummmm, but it wasn't legal.... she was 15 when she got pregnant... if he didn't have money they probably would have taken him to court and jailed him.

Lost luggage and Departure delays probably have little to do with the actual airline and rather the airport. Long lines at check-in counters and Overbooking are to do with the actual system of the airline + airport. Rude or indifferent flight attendants are the one thing that involves direct human interaction and they would also be the ones to calm you down if there was a delay or you lost your luggage. Basically the one thing that should always be the best is customer service since it will stand out the most. Bad food, long delays will not be memorable, but a crappy flight attendant will really make your day unforgettable and something to tell your friends about.

If 54 kids are strangled every year, one would expect an article of this kind once a week. Under that assumption I would not be surprised with this kind of news all year round. Same with car accidents, suicides, death threats, murders, robberies and so on...

those teens through 30s who are not yet familiar with PC's might want to spend some time before hand. I can't see how using a mobile phone or a tv add-on utility can be any easier then using MS or Mac.

With the weapons of today the battle field is very different. While there won't be battles of this kind anymore the outcome is always the same. Smart bombs and remote technology will make killing just that much easier. Perhaps it is better to have less powerful weapons to leave a few alive so they can tell the story rather than have a square mile obliterated.

gives the Lehman guys time to look for a new job. If Nomura is smart they will change nothing, if they are dumb as I expect the top 10% bringing in 90% of the cash flow will vanish overnight.

agree with Taka, let there be a money transaction so the gov can tax them all for 50%, but the advertising and usage royalties should be the same.

then why be on duty for 24 hours if you spend the majority of the time doing nothing. Go home, hang out with your family, get some sun. Do a full 8 hour shift properly and then go home and relax. It's a proven fact that humans are more efficient when they have a balanced day.
