and what constitutes as an expat? If your in a rented apartment paid by your company in Azabu and you hang out every night in Roppongi and always meet the same dudes at the same bar then I guess you must be the stereotype expat who doesn't have a clue about Japan. You could spend 30 years in the same international community quite happily never having to become accustomed to Japanese life or even speak a word of it.

another novelty item to join the rest of the defunct junk over the year. Double the volume, double the recording space, double the power requirements, double the maintenance (imagine one lens dirty or zoom out of sync), no idea on the editing software and so on.
Leave it to the pros for movies and games for at least a few more years.

Must be some really sleezy back alley companies that need to hire these guys. If they did any of the things above to a point that it hurts the individual then a law suit would eventually emerge or the head chopped of guy burns the yamesaseya office down while stabbing the workers one by one. Too much of a risk to go out and destroy ones life when they lose everything they have little to lose, but lots of anger. i.e Mazda serial killer

why should it be for only women. I often hold the door open for kids, men, dogs and cats...
Posted in: Do you think a man holding a door open for a woman, holding her chair for her when she sits down, or giving up his seat for her are outmoded gestures of politeness or do they still have their place in today's society?

thats why you shouldn't walk on the escalator, hold on to the handrail and just stand!! Escalators were never designed to be walked up and down on, hence the large steps. Most escalators actually have signs on them to tell you not to walk on them. In fact your not even supposed to stand on one side of the escalator, you should always stand dead centre becuase of balance issues. Ever thought about how much manufacturing precision & technology needs to go into these escalators when you just know one side of the it might need to handle a few tons on weight imbalance. Imagine an aeroplane with everyone seated on one side...

great at principle, but too much noise on the power lines. The speeds really suck if you have one bad item plugged in.

Doctors and hospitals are like any shop out there. You have good ones and bad ones so you need to shop around. The experience will be drastically different if you are comfortable with the doctor and nurses around you. You really need to research and ask around probably before you even think about having children.

taking a reasonable photo is not too hard if you just use the "firework" setting on your compact camera. My photos came out rather nice. If you have a reflex camera + tripod than all the better or you could just recor it in
If just 100,000 people came and spend 500yen on drinks and food it would bring 50 million yen for the community. The August fireworks used to bring some 6 million to come and watch so I think it pays for itself while bringing people together to share an hour of splendor.

Would North West = Delta? The NW A330 from NRT to SFO is fine, would love the same Airbus to do Handea.

dumb dumb, should have left it at home. You can buy stun guns at any Donkey Hote, online or of course Akihabara. Restricted, but not illegal in Japan.

Too poor to do anything with the body. Throwing it out doesn't sound like the right thing to do either. It's not like you can dump the body at the cemetery or church and expect them to pay for the burial. Talk to the prefectural gov, ha, good lot that will do if your living out of a car, no job, if no papers than probably get kicked out of the office. The translation into English sounds pretty insane, but to not want to let go of your child or even pet is understandable. Some wierdo's even go as far to stuff their pets or embalm them. Anyway, I hope they don't make any more kids soon.

ewwww in your dreams. Maybe they can learn something from the tourists, I don't think people would want to become acclimatized to them. Aichi Banpaku was bad enough and that was in Japan with no cutting in lines, shouting, eating & walking, spiting and what not. I can't even imagine what will happen when the toilet queues become obscenely long and people find relief elsewhere.

I would say the parents of the 19 year old are also at blame. Probably repetition for the last generation or simple neglect. Age shouldn't be a factor anyway, even a 4 year old can look after a 2 year old better.

doesn't mean you need to be wearing the watch when it's doing 15G. Kind of like your notepc with a harddisk that says 50G or 200G or whaever powered on or powered off.

just can't get enough of this debate huh? No need to kind the US troops out in one go, just do it gradually. 50% to start with should be a good move. If they do want to stay I can pick out a few uninhabited islands off the coast of Japan that should be just perfect. As for the 2 billion cost, well I guess that's the cost of borrowing the US force. What Japan should start investing in is "clones" , autonomous robots and what not. I can picture a field of ojizou or butsuzou (Ashura would be cool) all cloned and about 3 feet tall (Yoda size) ready for battle in the near future.
