If they could pronounce the names properly without translating them into katakana there wouldn't be nothing to laugh about.

    They are 'daburu' (double)

    Are they that fat?

If the term is not seen as bad by most japanese as you wrote, aren't you alienating your kids by teaching them so?

It's like telling them that they're special for being different, so now they are better than the rest? How is that better, you should be teaching them that we are all equal.

I wonder what kind of answers they got if they had a foreign/mixed looking interviewer asking japanese people how they feel about them?

Garage Sale are both from Okinawa and if I'm not wrong most Japanese who went to South America were from there, so maybe that has something to do with them hosting the show.

It has every meaning that some commenters have already said.. in the heat of summer it cools down the walk way in front of your business which is a courtesy to customers, it also washes the path or sidewalk and so gives a clean appearance to the shop, which is considered being a courtesy to the businesses around you as well as advertising that you keep a clean shop. In places where there is no pavement then it does keep down the dust that comes when summer heat dries the ground, and it is also a ritual that is considered part of the national culture, done with respect for the past.

Reminds me of the series Parker Lewis.

Do you and your friends volunteer to help instead of the robots?

There are probable enough people, japanese, willing to do that job but for a fair wage not the one that can only pay for foreign cheap labor. But obviously that's not how things work.

The guy is holding the control, probably next version will have speech recognition but will be incompatible with the previous model of course.

Seems interesting, kind of similar to Samurai William by Giles Milton but set almost 200 years later.

Maybe some of you should watch the "kenmin-show." Quite enlightening and entertaining.

So you believe everything you see on TV? Just kidding but sometimes the amazement they show with the most trivial things like they were from another planet is just stupid, entertaining yeah, but stupid. So people have different customs and traditions, surprise! I enjoy the tenkin drama though, the model that plays the wife is so lovely.

Kawashima blocked a PK against Denmark, in the goal against The Netherlands I guess you can blame the ball instead.

I know you are only mentioning the starting eleven but there are young players like Okazaki, Uchida and Morimoto. And many more who didn't make it to the WC but have been called to the national team like Kagawa (Dortmund), Koroki, Kashiwagi. Sure they lack experience but they always will unless they go to Europe.

Kawashima gave away the last PK, he didn't wait till the last moment, he did a good world cup but the goal against the Netherlands was also his fault.

I don’t think I have anything left to do now

If this is how he feels well just let him go and hire asap an experienced European coach or someone like Oliveira who must be bored of wining the J League, even Stojkovic could do a good job, they have to play the Asian Cup next year, the one that Ossim failed to win but amazingly Zico could.

For the next World Cup in Brazil, Honda and the rest of the young players would have a lot more experience and let's just hope that more players can go abroad AND actually play. What happened to Koki Mizuno?

Sadly nowadays transfers are all about who can sell some jerseys and the Japanese market may not be very attractive, for example Barcelona is coming to Asia after the World Cup but not to Japan.

They tried the microchip inside the ball thing a couple of years ago but it wasn't accurate enough for them, still that's probably the only thing they can do to confirm if the ball crosses the goal line or any line in the case of corner kicks or throw ins, cause stopping the game every single time to check a replay is just impossible.

Even if they don't stop it but have a referee watching replays all the time, by the moment he notices a mistake it would be just too late to make the call.

Why use Rooney if he's clearly not 100% fit? If there's someone to blame that's Capello for sure for calling such lame players like James and not being able to build an strong team having very good players to choose from.

Foreigners presence is not to blame, unless you want a league with no so good players filling in, they have to get there because they are better and deserve it not because some silly rule.

bicultural, there's no offside from a goal kick, it's in the rules. England's goal? Call it divine justice.

Daisan - if you get pleasure out of Goliath massacring David - you are on your own there, my friend!

Guess what I didn't even watch the game, but it wasn't a friendly game and they have to score otherwise they'll be mocking the rivals and everyone else watching it.

According to the rules you can get carded if you mock the rivals by doing silly and unnecessary moves. This also goes to show fifa how unpleasant the difference among confederations can be.

Anyway, just take a look at the group that just played, imagine Chile finishing with 9 points and all the rest with 3, goal average does matter and Portugal can play it safe now, they can lose against Brazil and don't worry about it.

We'll start to see good games from now on though, but that's not guaranteed, a knockout game could be either an open game with lots of goals or a snoozefest until the PK's.
