OMG what a narrow escape. Lucky this time, hope there's no next time.

But where the hell were they standing for a simple wandering off while mother turned away incident to end up under a train? In some situations, like on a platform, waiting at a level crossing, it's understandable for a momentary lapse (of intelligence) to end up on the tracks, so where were they when mum stopped watching her child without holding onto her hand?

They take criminally insane killers on trips to fairs? Oh my god, what the hell are those people ON? (And I don't mean the killers but the so-called carers.)

I'd like to know why they suspect him to the point of serving warrants. Was it just that he refused to voluntarily give dna because he sees it as an infringement of his human rights? Did he not evacuate the building along with everyone else? Was he disheviled or bloodstained on the day?

Whatever the reason, I hope it's got nothing to do with those problems with the former girlfriend, because anyone who thinks it's unusual or abnormal to do this

when the girl tried to break up with Clark, he attempted to confront her and wrote on her locker

obviously doesn't have much experience with relationships.

But most of all I want them to actually find the killer and get him or her out of circulation.

Why is this price quoted in dollars? Does this only apply to the flights in or to the US? Virgin is a British company, so why not use pounds? £££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££

If this is true, if, then I hope they find the sick git who leaked the info and make them pay in whatever way hurts most.

This is like one of you guys here having the girl you love dump you and spread rumours that your pe*is is the size of a jellybean and covered with pustules of yellow ooze. Unforgivable in other words, and without showing the world her insides she can't prove or disprove it.

Officially, they're saying that they can't confirm or deny anything as they don't know anything themselves yet, but if it's true then she keeps her medal and her moment of glory. She won't be allowed to compete in women's races anymore though, and as they don't have mixed races where it counts her career will effectively be over. They said something like this is not her fault and they won't be holding her responsible or accusing her. They have more decency than some of the people on here.

I feel sorry for her. And I can't understand why some people are so hostile, but I suppose they're the same people who get all worked up about things being unnatural when someone who was previously classified as a man but happens to have female internal organs, becomes all woman and has a baby.

Nature isn't perfect. There may be 2 genders, but nature sometimes doesn't do the job properly and things get a bit confused. It is quite common, and the Western habit of chopping off anything that sticks out when a baby is found to be like this is actually so sick-minded it's criminal. (Especially as there's a high chance they're genetically male.)

I can't comment on whether she can act or not, but what the heck is she wearing? It looks like a bizarre cross between a maid costume and a frilly nightie. Is this a taster of the quality of the costumes they'll be using in the film?

Also, take not of the fact that he handles about 200 mixed race divorce cases per year, not 200 child abduction cases. There's no mention of how many of those he handles per year, just the simple fact that 'most' of them are a result of violence, (alleged or otherwise, we don't know if it even came to the attention of police let alone the courts.)

Of course there are a small number of women all over the world who make up stories of abuse to try and gain custody. That doesn't prove that any of these women are lying though, be it the Japanese ones mentioned here or all the countless others in different countries. Those men who are guilty of abuse aren't just going to admit it after all, especially if they want custody of their kids.

I'm quite sure there are also plenty of men who make up stories too, but this lawyer presumably only assists women so he's not got any juicy stories for us.

Saw an ad the other day with that life-like female robot. So gross it made me feel sick, the way the fake-skin moves over the robotic skull as it spoke. That's why scientists don't normally bother making realistic robots. R2D2 is a lot more acceptable.

As for doing the housework for me, sure I wouldn't mind a few smallish robots with pre-programmed capabilities for work, but I do not want something that can think. Creepy, and potentially dangerous. (Yes, I've seen too many stupid movies.) But anything with true intelligence can make up it's own mind to do something. No thanks.

Posted in: Japanese scientists grew up watching robot cartoons, so they all want to make two-legged companions. But are they realistic? Do consumers really want home-helper robots?

Most Japanese people do their university level learning before going to university, so they can pass the entrance exams.

Once they get in, too many can't be bothered to do anything but text and act like big kids all day. It's hard to enter a J-uni, but not so hard to graduate. Only the truly dedicated bother actually learning anything while at their university. The prestige comes from being crammed enough to get in.

Those orangemen are a pain in the butt. Always trying to stir up more trouble.

Although I certainly don't approve of the violence, for the most part I don't blame the Irish catholics for wanting to force the orangemen to stop their sickening marches. This bout of violence has the unfortunate distinction of being aimed at the police more than the orangemen though, which kind of nullifies it's purpose for me. (Take note of the fact that when the orangemen moved on, the attacks on the cops continued. If it was truly against the orangemen they should have tried to follow them via a back-route rather than stopping and attacking the cops. Not that long ago the cops were fighting the orangemen, so they can hardly claim excessive bias.) I wonder if the actual protest was taken over by troublemakers as so often happens? Or if it's just a sign that things are getting worse again?

Personally, I'd just have let the Catholics get on with their violence against the orangemen. They want to fight, otherwise they wouldn't insist on their stupid arrogant marches each year. If they want to fight with the catholics, let them. Let the cops just clean up the mess afterwards. Much simpler, and might save a bit of trouble next year.

    Tap.

Betting, surely all the minerals in bottled water makes it worse for you with only kidney? Unless you buy the bottled tap water some companies probably sell, (even coca cola did that in the UK until consumers found out the truth.)

Drugs tests will at least make that clear, although they still won't know whether it was self-administered or in a spiked drink. What a strange comment for a police spokesperson to make.

someone should tell Fujita that falling-down, passed-out drunks are mostly a Japanese phenomenon.

Rubbish. That happens all over the world.

Posted in: These cases are very hard to investigate. It's difficult to know whether people were just drinking too much or if they were actually drugged.

Hah! Been talking (and laughing) about this nonsense all day.

Hubby used to work as a tour guide for Japanese tourists in Paris. He has no time for Japanese tourists (even though technically he IS one whenever he leaves Japan,) and claims the reason they never complain is because of the language barrier and they complain non-stop to the tour guide if they have one. The reason they're good tippers (chippers even) is because they've read or been told that they're supposed to and they don't want to be rude or annoy the staff. They're quiet because no-one around them except their companions speak Japanese. This is also quite a good description of British tourists, the main exception being that they only speak English instead of Japanese. That's probably why we came second in this ridiculous study.

Don't believe it's nonsense? Did you know that Brits came second in elegance? After Italians and before French? How ridiculous can they get!

We don't have any problems with cars turning at the same time we have the green man, despite the fact it's completely different back home.

At the very least it means pedestrians are more likely to watch what the cars are doing, instead of trusting to the drivers to being paying attention enough to actually stop at a red light. There's no country in the world where it's always safe for pedestrians to cross with the green man without checking what the cars are doing.

I feel deeply saddened by this accident, and all the others that I read about here and back home. Poor kids, I hope it was the driver's fault so they can throw the book at him so to speak. But knowing kids, and knowing how they swerve even more than normal when 2 kids are on 1 bike, I can imagine all too easily that they suddenly veered into the road. Was it on a crossing? Maybe, after all there's a footpath so it must be more than the average Japanese road. Maybe they'll show the scene on the news later. Hope the second kid gets through ok.

Hilarious! More the comments than the article! Thanks for the benefit of your experience Altria!

But through my laughter I remember an experience I had on a train, sitting opposite some young woman in a skirt. No umbrella, but she kept dozing and her legs were drifting apart. I knew no-one had a decent view, and I certainly wasn't about to look, but she kept waking up and giving everyone a dirty look while she adjusted her skirt! Like it was someone going over to her and moving her legs so they could have a good look. Silly woman, if she was that tired and didn't have shorts under her skirt she should have remained standing.

The women doing their make-up can stay. They're good for a laugh, and I'm waiting for the train to stop suddenly so I can snicker at a streak of black or red across one of their faces!
