I think its great the Kyoto restaurants gave the Michelin people a bit of stick. Have there been any articles about the Japanese tiring of this guide?

Stirfry that is classic! Thats another one for the annals of Japan Today! Whilst not wanting to be judgemental, this seems to happen too often in Japan. I wonder whether its the same father? Only time will tell.

I have to agree with the posts that are stating that things have swung too far the other way. Sure no one wants these grads to be subjected to some of the oji-san brutality but work is a little like school, at some point you need to stand up and be counted. You can't keep on running to mummy and daddy. I feel sorry for the parents because they are going to have to support this lot into their 60's and beyond and with Japanese taxes and all I don't know how they will be able to afford it and when they pass away how will this lot survive? I think Japan will end up being a playground for rich/wealthy tourists and foreigners who live there.

Modeling is a tough gig and it depends on timing and what you inherited from your parents. Its tough for her but she can't complain, modeling from 15 to 23 ain't a bad stretch and is a lifetime in that industry. Hard to have a lot of sympathy as the industry doesn't exactly hide what it is.

These guys must be the lightweights because their heads all seem a little big compared to their bodies. Interesting that they all wear the same coloured speedos.

Ambrosia - you shouldn't lose your cool. My comment regarding Japanese men is that they would probably have nice skin if they didn't drink and smoke a lot. Whether you like it or not genetics does play a part accompanied by diet. Look at the Dutch, they are the tallest people on average in the world, you dont put that down to genetics? I think no one here in this commentary is being particularly nasty. Obviously this is somewhat of a sore point. And PS your not the only one that has travelled.

Sure Japanese women on average have better skin and that is because of the 1) culture to not suntan and 2) so much pressure to have nice skin. In the west most women at a young age are out and about and skin beauty is not so emphasized. Lastly its asian genetics because Korean women have beautiful skin too.

The comment about Japanese guys skin is interesting and I think that person is right. I don't think Japanese guys have great skin esp. as they tend to pick at their acne.

This guy is a loser. He disliked foreigners yet he wants an Olympic in Tokyo - well that will attract a lot of dreadful foreigners and then all he can do is whinge. Just congratulate Rio and be done with it.

"NeoJamal at 02:01 PM JST - 28th September

Just as the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki saved alot of Japanese lives, the rape of Nanking saved alot of Chinese lives."

How does that logic work? Are you saying by raping and pillaging Nanjing it brought China's plight to the world? Thats just crazy. Its like saying the gas chambers of all those German prisons brought the plight of the Jews to the world and saved the remaining Jews. I am afraid I cannot see the logic in your comment.

Poor guy. Probably did'nt know what hit him. Imagine just finishing cooking the chau-han and you get a knife to the cut. Thats just weird. I don't know what it is about Japan but there seems to always be so much "Falling Down" (see Kirk Douglas movie) incidents.
