One of the first things I learned when coming to Japan was exactly this - how I should properly hand over paper bills. Face up and facing the other person, "it's manner here", the wifey said. Since then it is "common sense" to me and - mistakes as the one stated above (handling wrong bill) - can never happen to me.

I can pay with closed eyes, 'cause the wallet content is aligned/sorted properly by default :-)

I remember driving on the StadtAutobahn in WestBerlin when the "Trabant" flood begun. Opened the window and shook hands with random people in these vehicles - full of joy.

That'll fill most Japnese people's homes!

My thoughts exactly. Even if I'd want to follow that advise, there simply is no place left to stash anything in my home.

They should restrict car access and even invite more crowds.

I experienced both sides of such in Tokyo (Machida). I once found a swollen wallet on top of a public phone inside a department store - handed it to store staff without even looking inside.

And last summer my own wallet fell out of my pocket, only to be found by a kind soul minutes later. It was delivered to a police station and I had it back the next day. Some 50.000 Yen and several other valuable stuff (Yodobashi, Yamada point cards, residence card, drivers license etc.) were all returned without anything missing. That is the Japan I know and would wish it'd be everywhere like that.

... liquid has far less chemicals and industrial poisons than normal cigs ...

Also, IF I am not wrong, then these liquids sold in JP don't even contain nicotine. Source: some recent report on JP TV, forgot which channel it was.

Surely they would have back up plans, such as a convoy of buses to transport people?

Buses and even taxis are of few use when the necessary streets are closed. And, ... it was not only people trying to get away FROM Narita but also the other way around.

I probably would be in a warm tropical spot by now IF I could have gotten to Narita somehow. But the only kind taxi driver who cared to stop at Shinjuku station's "Taxi" sign explained that it would take more than four hours and about 300 bucks to get there :/.

Another mislabeling scandal, only in this case the content is better than what's on the label.

I wonder how he could cope with it for that long time - seeing the other dude collecting all the flowers.

For me it is not so about the borrowing from another language BUT much more the weird pronunciation. Example: Why the heck is there no real "C" sound? Eating some stuff and telling how "jyuushi" it is, sounds like a speech disorder. And there are plenty of more samples like that.
