I don't know how important that person is for my bubble, . err life, ... at least his name was not mentioned during the last 18 years in the news which I pay for - NHK. Who cares, as long as he enjoyed his sushi.

Hmm, not bothers me but rather a matter of elegance/esthetic --> opening (or closing) the darn thing with THE CHIN.

That's nice! Japan really needs more talking devices. I am very thankful for the escalator at the train station where I board each day - it 'warns' people nonstop that it might be slippy at rainy days! Also coffee- and teacups should talk, maybe like "Please be careful! It is dangerous if the content of this cup is very hot, you could burn your mouth".

My attempt once to capture TV with a device for such matters bought at Akiba ended up with returning the device to the shop. Simple reason was: it was unusable on non-JP WinXP. Maybe a bit more market research could have helped.

There was a Japanese 'Team' searching for "Nessie" some time ago. While the results were somehow a 'bit' predictable for many people, it at least may be of entertanment for a part of the Japanese TV audience (hey, they like 'obake' stuff much, it seems. Now somebody hurry, get the skin from http://thehorrordome.com/HDSHOPPINGPROPS/SasquatchLARGE.htm and jump around a bit in Nepal’s mountains :-)
