dbung10: Still think that your Friday night line of coke is a harmless and 'victimless' crime? This is where it comes from.

I always assumed it came from Columbia.

But Friday night line of coke is a victimless crime. But not even allowing people to have a license for recreational coke use? That is what is not a victimless crime. I grew up hearing about how America was a free country. Seems like an odd thing to say when you have no choice of coke source.

Anyway, its just as likely that marijuana is the cash cow this band of thugs is involved in. And everybody could grow it at home if it was allowed. Instead it seems the anti-pot crowd would rather random teens in Mexico got slaughtered.

ahocchau: Obviously drunk as a skunk.

Who? You? It never ceases to amaze me how people jump to such conclusions based totally on their own imaginations! I guess it never occurred to you that they may have all been unlicensed teenagers who stole a car for a joy ride and decided to see how fast it would go around a corner?

bcbrownboy: I can't understand why this isn't in the Crime section?

A good point. As the boy was wrapped in plastic, it looks like abandonment of a corpse to me. It seems very unlikely the boy was taken there alive and left to die. Whoever left the body could have been anyone, including a yak who has the mother locked up as a forced prostitute/ sex slave. It would certainly explain why no abortion was done if the baby was unwanted.

Could have been anything, including revenge on one or more of the parents. No sense jumping to conclusions. A whole bunch of things seems likely besides a mistake.

alargo: The baby was dumped by its mother and no amount of rationalization will ever change that.

How do you know the baby was not dead of natural causes when the mother left him? For that matter, how do you know it was the mother that dumped him? It might have been the father. Or a pimp.

How do you know the mother was not abused?

Gee whiz! What can one really say about this? RIP to the three killed and may the three who fled suffer the rest of their days. There is no debate about this: a car goes through a guardrail and goes onto a sidewalk and kills people, and the driver obviously did not die of a heartattack causing the car to go out of control, its totally, completely and all other ways the fault of the driver. And the two passengers are irresponsible for not making sure that driver never drives again.

You've been spared from this sick and rotten society.

A dead baby every once in a while hardly makes the whole thing sick and rotten.

May your "mother" burn in the realms of hell for all eternity.

In fact, the whole reason for this was more than likely because of the father. For the male, preventing pregnancy is a piece of cake. Its a fair bet he caused one he didn't want and then did not stick around to either pay for an abortion or help with pregnancy he caused. I would also be willing the bet the mother was scared, confused and alone and had no desire for the baby to die. The death of the baby might well have been an accident caused by her confused state and a lack of options.

Sarge: If Bush had been president when this happened, you wouldn't be saying this sort of thing, you'd be saying Bush wasn't on the ball,

No. On that score, I would be saying the same thing.

    or worse.

On this one? No. I was not even suggesting that Bush was behind the shoe bomber either. So give us a break. Unlike some people, I look at the whats and the hows, rather that "who's side am I supposed to be on". I am on the side of truth and justice first and always. America's second. And I am not on the side of a political party at all except for one issue at a time. This is an order of things I scarcely think you will ever understand. You seem to run in the reverse order, just like so many Republicans.

bushlover: No I'm sure no one wants him to elaborate because they have already made up their mind. There is no compromise in their eyes.

Gee, they have only had 6 years to think about it and Blair has done a lot of talking in that time. You think their minds might be made up?

Did they think that war would be easy?

Well, it was. The only bit properly termed as a war was the invasion. And it was pretty easy. What flopped was the occupation. Very poorly handled. More like a civil war really.

It's a disaster to them because they lost people. That's a given in war. Some will die. But it's a sacrifice we know will have to be made. The politicians and the soldiers both know this.

Wrong. The U.K. lost only 139 soldiers as I can see. That is not what the fuss is about and its not from the families of 139 dead soldiers.

But the liberals cry foul when it starts to happen.

The cries of foul happened WAAAAAAAYYYY after the start of the casualties, so its safe to say that theory is crap.

People of all political persuations are dubbing the whole thing a disaster. But not because there was no success. Rather because success cost more and took more time than the leaders said it would, a WHOLE lot more. We watched the goalpost move time and time and time again. Its known as a Pyrrhic victory, and that is synonymous with disaster.

Beheading women in the streets for being suspected of being a prostitute reveals a lot about what the perpetrators think of women.

No, it reveals what they think about prostitutes and how stupid they are about fixing the problem. All it says about their picture of women is that women should not be prostitutes.

If you are still not convinced, I give up, because you cannot be presented with such convoluted logic three times with any hope of educating anyone.

saintyukio: If the trial at the civil court, it may give the accused too many rights - and, as enemy combatants, they don't deserve any rights; what rights did they give to their victinms?

Apparently you have no faith in the system. If you did you would be happy to take away a person's rights after the trial, like we do here in the civilized world. See, all it takes to take away a person's rights and jail him or even execute him is a fair trial. I don't know why some of you people can't be bothered with such simple tests...maybe you failed tests a lot in school?

Many children in Haitian orphanages aren’t actually orphans but have been abandoned by family who cannot afford to care for them.

Abandoned kids are also known as "orphans". Hello?

Unless these kids were lined up to be sacrifices in voodoo rituals, its difficult to imagine that where they were going could be any worse than where they left. I wonder how many hundreds of kids are going to die in the effort to make sure that a handful are not trafficked? There is no way the group could document these kids properly any time soon. So where will they end up now? Anyone really think reunions are likely for them?

SuperLib: Actually, I do get it. What I've seen is 50+ years of the utter failure from the Palestinians to militarily erase Israel from the planet. So, what's your solution? More war? Sure....it's worked wonders so far.

I was describing the situation, not the solution.

it seems that they know no other way and there are plenty of people in Western nations cheering on the failed war effort such as yourself.

Why do you assume I support the fighting? All I am saying is that I understand why they keep fighting.

I can promise you that there is a solution for Palestine but I guarantee that it doesn't include bigger weapons, no matter how much you want them.

I don't want them. But there are reasons why it keeps going that way.

The only solution for the Palestinians is non-violent resistance.

Yeah. It worked for Jews for 2000 years. Then they got back Israel with non-violent resistance! Uh-huh.

They undercut their credibility with every terrorist attack they carry out

On the other hand, if they just sat down and shut up, they would be forgotten.

You know, its interesting that you have so many suggestions for the Palestinians, but nothing to say about the Israelis. Surely any solution is going require both parties to change? What you don't seem to realize is that the Israelis are not interested in giving the Palestinians any sort of autonomy unless the Israelis can control it, which is not autonomy at all! Both sides suck. The first major difference is that the Palestinians have excuses. The second is that the Palestinians have crap for weapons.

You guys are such a headache. A border has two sides, and Israel controls all exits and entrances from the Gazan side...except when tunnels are dug to Egypt. Then the Palestinians can get potato chips.

bushlover: I agree the BS lies they had to concoct to do this was only because of the liberal world opinion and the 9/11 thing was only a window of opportunity for them to take care of old business.

What old business was the invasion of Iraq supposed to be settling?

These guys should be excused the accusations and be applauded as heros that finally got the UN's job done.

What was the job the UN failed to do with regards to Iraq? Did the UN ask the U.S. and Britain to do this job?

RomeoRamenII: It's in a reactionary mode when it comes to terrorism, when it should be in a preventative mode.

Not sure what you mean. The only prevention opportunity the U.S. had here was for the people at the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria to deny this dude a visa. The only warning they had was when the man's own father went to the embassy to warn them. The father's warnings were not heeded. The only people who messed up were the people at the embassy, although I must point out there is no proceedure for such a thing at this time. Expecting Obama's administration to have prevented this is akin to expecting Obama to have a crystal ball in the Oval Office.

By contrast, the 9/11 terrorists were actually being investigated by the FBI before the fact. Its a world of difference.

Sarge: Since Israel controls the West Bank, how about just Gaza - ready? - a cesspool.

Israel controls both West Bank and Gaza strip. Whatever control has been given to Gaza Strip is an illusion, same as the teachers setting up a student council. They have no power.

If you wish to call it cesspool, that is fine with me. Its fine because it shows just what sort of person you are Sarge. You are the same kind as the Israelis. Rather than ask a people what they want to be called, you imperiously name them. I wish this board would let me imperiously name you, because then I know you would do what so many expect the Palestinians to do: just sit there and take it. Yeah, right!

bushlover: These "people" have been there for years but still can't seem to make the place productive and they still want handouts from the country they celebrated an attack on. I say screw these idiots that can't seem to start to help themselves.

This is so typical coming from an American. The Israelis did to the Palestinians the same as the Americans did to the Native Americans, and ask themselves stupid questions and make up stupid crap to make the Native Americans look like the ones who are wrong.

I cannot tell you how much I would love to drag you from your home and throw you on a patch of ground in Arizona, throw you a few dollars every month and see how you go. I will have armed guards making sure you stay there, and if you so much as throw a rock my brute squad will smash your face. And every time I visit I will remind you how lucky you are for my handouts and to have your patch of dusty ground. Then I will admonish you and ask what you have been doing all this time and why you don't have a garden full of lush vegetable and why you insist on living in a shack!

SuperLib: Perhaps they should put more time and money into things other than "small unguided rockets." My guess is that they'd be closer to a peace deal.

This is like saying the U.S. war of Independence was completely unnecessary and all the colonists had to do was take whatever deal the British offered to have peace. They did not actually need independence! What is confusing you about this situation? The Israelis quite literally have these people walled in. They took their lands, including rich farmland and orchards, and packed them into Gaza strip. The people there have no real passports. They cannot exit the Israeli blockade except to work in Israel for a lucky few prisoners but then they have to go back at night, just like many prisons have worked. Sometimes (like once a month if they have the money) they can go to Egypt but they also have to go back from there. Usually if they want potato chips, they have to dig a tunnel out to Egypt. I am not joking. The place is a friggen prison. Its a concentration camp. Not a death camp mind you, but a concentration camp. What peace do you suggest? Maybe the kind of peace like the American south had in the early 1800s, where the Palestinians become the black slaves to Israeli white plantation owner? Because that might actually be a step up from the situation they are in now!

You really just don't get it. You don't seem to want to get it. Those rockets are all they have to hit back with. They are a small hope, and a small token of self-respect. And you expect them to given them up and have no hope and no self-respect? I don't know if you are more ignorant of the situation in Gaza or just of human psychology!
